  1. Technique discussion fh topspin

Lula has told this story several times over the years and it is useful to tell it often. Lula is a real TT player and under-appreciated here.
  2. Technique discussion fh topspin

Hey @Zezima I understand where you come from... BUT... IF... you can make a very fast bat (by getting hips down and do a down and up and forward powerfully timed explosion, you will EASILY make extreme heavy topspin that will baffle players many levels above you. Stay loose with shoulder, arm...
  3. Technique discussion fh topspin

This particular vid has dozens of useful nuggets of info. There is no singular answer to questions in TT, but this coach is sensible and clearly articulates concepts.
  4. Daily Table Tennis Chit Chat

Maybe the evidence of consistently getting the ball back on table with quality under tourney match pressure, despite no prior experience with the rubber should say a LOT... but I am not willing to spend $100 USD plus per sheet for that. My beloved Aurus does the same thing and I have had many...
  5. Daily Table Tennis Chit Chat

As for how I did in the tourney, I did well in Singles (won both my groups) and played maybe the best I ever played in doubles vs who our team faced. Venue was windy like the Natl Weather Service had issued wind advisories. I still got to a LOT of balls on wide FH (and BH) and scored. My...
  6. Daily Table Tennis Chit Chat

So my first 10 minutes impression a week ago is confirmed in the last week of using Zyre 03 on coaching, hitting around, and in the Sac Open. For what I do (mostly spin, but do every shot) Zyre 03 is an easy to spin rubber without weakness. Basically, for what I do, it does what $35 USD Aurus...
  7. Daily Table Tennis Chit Chat

I am playing in the Sacramento tourney with Zyre 03 on FH. A friend gifted me one sheet of this rubber, so I try it out. It doesn't seem to do anything better than I do with regular Aurus, but I have used that rubber for years and can do everything with it. This is a chance to see what shots...
  8. Discussion: Is it worth trying to slow the game down again?

Yes. Korrekt analysis and historical background/context. This generation of ABS makes it WAY easier to hit through spin (and yes, there is less of it, but still large spin). Before this gen of ABS ball, even the USATT 2000 level players, who are the bottom end of the top ten percent of active...
  9. Discussion: Is it worth trying to slow the game down again?

I like Zezima's attitude and contrarian view. Figuring out how to get more people to love TT is a good thing to figure out.
  10. I wasted 12 years of my life trying to play table tennis

He asks himself and others a lot of great questions, philosophical stuff. He has his head on straight. Myself, I did not get into TT at early childhood, I started at age 42.I I love TT. I am not nor will I ever be the best player in the room in any room. I lose in tourneys, only made finals...
  11. Discussion: Is it worth trying to slow the game down again?

NOPE. Not gunna work. Some 85g blades with 45g cut rubbers can be gad-awful fast. Only a matter of time and training and you right back where you came from. yes, easy to implement, but zero chance with even one year to do what you want.
  12. Discussion: Is it worth trying to slow the game down again?

As for spin and defensive players... lets look at Joo Sae Hyuk, the undisputed representative of defensive modern TT... You see a match with Timo Boll or any CNT vs Joo Sae Hyuk and the crowd is on its feet 100% by the 5th ball to the 11th ball... only he did that do arean crowds and it was...
  13. Discussion: Is it worth trying to slow the game down again?

No, I am not the owner of supreme intellect or whatever, ask NL the mod, he knows me well. As for the improvement to our issue of furthering TT... How about players figuring out how to play better? (and assisting this in all ways) (and working to cultural acceptance) I see this happening all...
  14. No umpires in USATT tournaments

    LLLLUUUUULLLAAAA !!! FTW.
  15. Discussion: Is it worth trying to slow the game down again?

Yeah, great idea... make net the height of tennis height... and if that still doesn't work, make everyone use a tennis racket. You are on to something.
  16. No umpires in USATT tournaments

I am a certified Umpire (and certified Coach) and only get called in after the action to clarify things. (because few players rarely make the effort to report to the on site referee (if there actually is one) In a USA sanctioned tourney, there is SUPPOSED to be an on site RFEREEE who will get...
  17. hitting net a lot after boosting hurricane 3

People loudly proclaim that adhering the rubbers to the blade using rubber cement and using the bat the next day after all the possible VOCs have gassed off is likened to bloody murder punishable by tasking a happy individual to cut your thing off with a blowtorch and cauterize the remaining...
  18. ITTF WTTTC Finals London 2026, 4/28-5/10

What would Walt Williams say about this?
