Team Cuba wins GOLD in the Women's Teams event.

Cuba def. Chile 3-1. Daniela Fonseca Carrazana (CUB) was victorious against Daniela Ortega (3-2) and Paulina Vega (3-1) of Chile. Estela Crespo (CUB) defeated Zheying Zeng (CHI). Chile's lone victory came from Paulina Vega against Rosalba Aguiar (3-2).

A really tremendous run by Team Cuba, defeating Puerto Rico (3-1) and Brazil (3-1) on the way to this finals victory.

Team USA wins GOLD in the Men's Teams event at the 2024 Pan American Championships!!!!

USA def. Argentina 3-0. Kanak Jha, Sid Naresh, and Nandan Naresh each won their match in the finals. Jishan Liang with a thrilling win in an earlier round. A true team effort all around (but it sure is nice to have Kanak back).

Congratulations to Coach Mark Hazinski and the USA Men's team on this amazing victory!
what happened to Brazil ? no Calderano ?

I answered my own question, they lost to Chile with Daniela Ortega crushing Amy Wang 3-0. Would like to know the story behind that one, though Daniela looks like a serious player.
Sally Moyland lost the first match in the decider against Vega after being up. I think it hurt team morale to start like that. Then Wang came out and couldn't get anything going, whereas Ortega was on fire. Ortega is a strong conventional two-winged player. She overwhelmed Amy, who had been having a rough time in this entire competition really (poor doubles performance and lost to Bruna after being up 3-0 in singles semis). US Women's Team seemed worn out by the time this match rolled around. This tournament was a grind for sure.

Notable absences from the team competition include Hugo Calderano, Bruna Takahashi, and Adriana Diaz. Lily Zhang did not play singles or teams. The WTT Champions in Montpellier is starting and they are playing.

Brazil lost to Argentina in the Quarterfinals 1-3 with thrilling matches (3 went to the decider). Argentina vs Chile in the semis was also incredibly close (3-2 overall). Any combination of these three teams is guaranteed fireworks at this point.

Teams is only national pride, so it is normal for players to see what weighs more important.
its no different to many teams - even if the roster is full house, I doubt the player will play it as it is an olympic medal match. Preserving energy is required in these kind of scheduling.

on another note, powerhouse like Brazil, needs a proper no 2 and no 3. Hugo is light years ahead for example.
even without number 1, I would have thought they would be a finalist team.

Lily missing the whole tournament for holiday is probably very important for her, especially for her mental well being that she talked about before.

So we back with back to back champions (yes, 2 of them), finals and xd world cup (back to back)
for those that played 20+ in a year, this would probably make it 25+ now with continental and 4 more to go
