European Table Tennis Championships-2026 (the 2026 European Table Tennis Championships, officially known as the European Individual Championships 2026) will take place in Ljubljana, Slovenia, from 11 to 18 October 2026. The
European Table Tennis Championships-2026 will be organised by the
Slovenian Table Tennis Association under the authority of the
European Table Tennis Union (ETTU).
Five sets of medals will be awarded across five events: men's singles, women's singles, men's doubles, women's doubles and mixed doubles.
Participants
In the singles events, the entry quotas for national associations are determined by the results of the 2025 European Team Championships as follows:
- 5 players — associations finishing in positions 1–8 at the final stage, as well as the host association;
- 4 players — associations finishing in positions 9–16 (teams eliminated in the Round of 16);
- 3 players — associations finishing in positions 17–24 at the final stage;
- 3 players — the six highest-ranked associations that did not qualify for the final stage;
- 2 players of each gender — all remaining associations.
In addition to the established national association quotas, medallists from the two most recent European Under-21 Championships (2025 and 2026) are entitled to participate. Players qualifying under this provision may not be replaced. If an eligible player withdraws, the vacant place will not be allocated to another player.
If places remain vacant within the quotas allocated to associations finishing in positions 1–24, other associations may submit additional entries. Priority is given to the 14 associations entitled to three players, based on the final standings of the 2025 European Team Championships. In the event of tied positions, the European Team Ranking for September 2026 is used.
In the doubles events, the maximum number of players entered by each association is:
- 4 players — in men's doubles;
- 4 players — in women's doubles;
- 2 men and 2 women — in mixed doubles.
The players entered in the different doubles events do not have to be the same. Doubles pairs may consist of players representing different national associations.
Playing format
The championships feature five events: men's singles, women's singles, men's doubles, women's doubles and mixed doubles.
The singles main draws are limited to a maximum of 64 players, while the main draw in each doubles event is limited to a maximum of 32 pairs.
In the singles events, the
32 seeded players qualify directly for the main draw. All remaining players compete in a qualification stage consisting of groups of no more than four players.
In the doubles events, the
16 seeded pairs qualify directly for the main draw. All remaining pairs compete in a single-elimination qualification stage.
The ETTU European Ranking for September 2026 is used to determine the 32 players who qualify directly for the singles main draws. The placement of seeded players in the main draws and the qualification draws are based on the ETTU European Ranking for October 2026.
Seeding in the doubles events is based on the ITTF doubles rankings for European players published on 5 October 2026.
All singles main-draw matches are played in a best-of-seven-games format (first to four games). Singles qualification matches and all men's doubles, women's doubles and mixed doubles matches are played in a best-of-five-games format (first to three games).
