Alternative blade for Stige Cybershape Wood

says Looking for Frame
At the moment I play the Stiga Cybershape wood. One off the first editions, not all the other new ones that come out.

This blade is very linear (for me) with the Tibhar MK FX max rubber. This is a GOOD thing.
Does anyone know any alternative's I can check out?
I already bought and sold Koki Niwa Wood, Butterfly Korbel SK 7 (way to heavy), Tibhar Force Pro Black Edition (to fast)
Also tried Andro Treiber FI. That was the best yet so far.

If you want a similar feel but slightly slower, the Stiga Energy Wood V2 is a good option. Heavier Energy V2 blades (over 90 g) are actually faster than a light Cybershape Wood. The Nittaku Acoustic isn’t far off either.

What you don't like in your blade? Why looking for alternative?

If motivation to change is just shape and not speed/dwell/material or else, then I think you need to find something of the same wood composition and speed. Some of the blades mentioned above can be good options, for example acoustic is also limba but with a tung core. I have tried the cybershape wood and I have 2 acoustics home, and while acoustic felt to me a bit faster, it was not significantly faster. My experience seems to be similar to what TTgearlab data shows although for them acoustic is more the same speed as cybershape, probably trust that better haha https://ttgearlab.com/2023/04/04/stiga-cybershape-series-lab-test/

I have no experience with Energy Wood V2 so I cannot comment on that.

Maybe a nice side thing: I have an acoustic too much (original standard grip) and live in NL if you want it for a friendly price ;)

I want to go back to a normal shaped frame because off the balance.

@Crillo The soft/stiffness seems great on both. According to review the nittaku is much faster. You played both?
Yes, Acoustic is faster, but the difference isn’t huge. I’ve used two Acoustics, Cybershape Wood, and Energy V2. In my opinion, Energy V2 is underrated, while Acoustic is a very nice blade overall. That said, it’s important to check the weight of your blade, some Cybershape Wood blades are under 80g. If you get an Acoustic around 92g, it will feel noticeably faster and offer a different, more solid feel.

An elaborated opinion from you on the Cybershape Wood would internest me to great extent. Your general impression, how it fits an advanced beginner/developing player and how it fits with your philosophy of FH/BH rubber setup (from other thread). Right now playing Hugo HAL but considering stepping down a notch. Have you also tried Cybershape Pure?

Victas swat is also a classic with limba top ply, but its 7 ply and plays closer to a clipper

I play with long pips. Short at the table. sometimes pushed back behind the table or in the doubles i'm often more further behind. FH: I used a few different ones. MK, K3 FX, Tenergy 05 FX, RasanterR48 and now using MK FX. I tried others more to get a higer arc. It's very linear. At first the balance was great and one off the sellingpoints for me. But somehow it feels off. Maybe it's just me and I keep playing with this.
For now the Nittaki Acoustic seems like the best option to try if I can get my hands on it for testing.

Sorry I missed this amongst all other notifications, my bad! Anyways, happy to give my 2 cents on the topic of course :) Also, I have not tried the Cybershape Pure, only carbon and wood (carbon was CWT, wood not), so I can only comment from my experience on that.

By the way, these 2 review may help too:
- https://ttgearlab.com/2023/04/04/stiga-cybershape-series-lab-test/

So the wood cybershape, I compare this to the stiga all round classic, as that was the blade I started with and used to be the standard for beginner 5ply wood blades, and to me it seems like stiga is making the cybershape wood a modern version of that. I may be wrong, but that's my feeling when I look at how they advertise it. As an example, in the stiga site they say about it: 'Cybershape Wood is the perfect blade to start your career with and will also help you continue to progress all the way up to elite level.'

So, how I felt about it: A bit harder and for sure faster than the allround classic, more crisp/muted, it felt sharper in the hand even though the core is kiri, probably because it's thicker than most 5ply blades. The speed wasn't much less than my acoustic, which surprised me for a 'beginner' blade. Larger sweet spot but that was to be expected

So in my philosophy, this is an ALL+/OFF- blade, that can be good for a second step if like me, you want to start very slow and learn technique first, but can be a first blade if you want some tempo already and faster results and it's for a kid with coaching and regular practice ;) You can use it all the way to intermediate for sure, advanced I'd say not ideal.

If you need anything else let me know!

Going to test the Butterfly innerforce layer ALC.s .. so the softer version. It's softer, thinner and lighter than the normal innerforce ALC

Looking at reviews, ttlabgear etc it should fit me.

* ‘InnerForce Layer ALC.S’ is specialized for the players who play most with counter-topspin close-to-table area
* All-wood feel in short-game and carbon power for attack.
* Great control and ball feeling. Enough power if you play close to the table. Easy to produce spin on serves and loops.
* I am quite positively surprised by the ALC.S, but with OX, close to the table. I found the control with OX on the table particularly strong.

Also a few negative I have to laugh about but also a reminder it should fit my style
* Too soft for a carbon blade and will only be suitable for young kids and female player

Sometimes negative reviews help me as well
:)
