I've said this many times - Xiom Vega China is underrated.

Unlike the newer hybrid, Vega China is very durable. If you play 6hrs a week, it can last 6 months minimum.

Vs D09C:
  • Vega China is more linear
  • Max speed is higher with D09C
  • Control is better with Vega China
  • D09C is slightly more spinny
  • It's easier to access power with Vega China
  • Vega China is slightly more tacky (if H3 is 10 sticky and D09C is 3 sticky, Vega China is ~5 sticky) --> better for short game and service
Vega China ~$42, D09C $70.
What about its throw angle?

IMO there is no alternative on the market which combines the spin capability, feel, throw angle and durability of D09c.

LAC, H8-80 and similar have a significantly lower throw angle
G09c is substantially slower and less dangerous
ESN hybrids such as K3, Bluegrip C2, and V<sticky intially perform similarly, but their properties decline steadily and rapidly.

My bottom line is: if you are looking for the same characteristics as D09c, you won't find it anywhere else. On the other hand, if you are willing to accept differences, there's plenty of good hybrids to choose from.

TT-Test argues that Bluegrip C2 is a good alternative. I personally think the feeling differ a bit between them, but in terms of spin and speed they are definitely similar IMHO.
I have this rubber sitting in my drawer waiting until I wear out Zyre-03, which according to Butterfly will take a long time. Have you played with C2? How does it compare with Rasanter C53, Genextion V2C, Hybrid K3, MK?

I want to try the Donic J1. I heard it’s a pretty good alternative. Right now, I use NUZN 55 as my D09c alternative, but it is more of a mixture of 09c and D05 imo

The XIOM C52.5 performs quite similarly to the Dignics 09C. It has a crisper, more solid feel, a higher maximum spin ceiling, and it's easier to flat-hit. However, you really need to commit to your strokes to generate good speed. When looping against backspin, it doesn't give you that "automatic lift" sensation that the 09C offers. Therefore, while it's not a complete/perfect replacement, it definitely outperforms the 09C in certain areas. The only catch is that there isn't much of a price difference between them.

Yes I used C2 on one of my old blades, but I'm afraid I haven't used any of the rubber you mentioned for any extensive period of time so it's hard to compare against them...

What I can say is that both me and my TT parners found the C2 quite bouncy for a hybrid rubber and the topsheet wasn't as grippy as for example D09c, Bluegrip J1 and Rakza Z.

But it's still a very good rubber though with plenty of spin and speed but it has more of a "tensory" feel IMO.

C2 is a slightly different style of rubber compared to all of these, its harder and less bouncy with a bit more Hurricane behavior compared to K3 and V2C. C2 even less comparable to Hybrid MK, even MK Pro is much softer than C2 and plays much closer to a straight Euro style rubber. Havent tried C53
