I have a new sheet of the original Bryce that somebody randomly gave me 5 years ago. I tried hitting with it, and its very very slow/dead. It is nothing like modern rubbers (even Chinese rubbers are bouncier).

Has anybody tried boosting this rubber and how did it turn out?

I put 1 layer of booster on it and it did not curl at all. So I put another layer on, and it didn't curl but basically flattened out. I'm wondering if its a lost cause or what.

I tried a boosted Bryce Highspeed this year just to test out whether an ultra light inverted rubber (the only thing it is good at) can be matched on a heavy blade to balance out the weight ... and it was indeed a lost cause.

Both spin and speed were so low when comparing to even just newer mid-range rubbers at roughly same hardness (~45deg ESN scale for Highspeed).

When I was still rookie 10 years ago I thought all Bryce variants I tried were rockets ... I guess time has moved on.

Well i tried 3 layers of booster on the original bryce and its a huge disappointment. I guess it really does belong to a different era.

1. The rubber is really slow. Nowhere near esn speed, close in speed to some Chinese rubbers. Feels very dead with little rebound.

2. The rubber produces very little spin. Even among mechanical spin rubbers, it just doesnt spin much. A lot of my loops just feel like they are sitting for opponent to smash.

3. The biggest disappointment is that the topsheet has very little grip. Many shots feel like they are slipping off the topsheet. You can hear the ball skidding off the rubber. The throw angle feels low, and you have to hit the ball with a very open racket.
