Hi all

Just getting back into TT after a gap of 20+ years and have started off with a Black Balsa 5.0 blade with Kokutaku Blutenkirsche 868 2mm on both sides.

Blade & rubber combination works OK on my forehand for touch shots, fast blocks and also top spin drives provided I use a compact action with good shoulder turn. Not so good for loops or chops which tend to go long.

Not so happy with the combination on my backhand where I struggle to keep the ball down on drives. Topspin Flicks and slow loops also difficult and again not great for chopping.

Would welcome any thought on using a softer spinny rubber for my B/H that will give more control on slower play than 868. 868 seems to need to be hit hard to create decent topspin possibly due to being a tacky but fairly hard rubber.

Was thinking along the lines of LKT rapid soft. Try it first on the B/H and then possibly fit to F/H as well if it works better than the 868 on the Black Balsa 5.0 for all-round vets play.
