I had a training session with the best long pips player in Italy, Stefano Guerrini. He plays with a Meteor 8512 long pips and an unboosted Hurricane 8.

Here’s a list of the strongest international players he won with:
Ma Biao
Pan Qing
Liu Jianxu (2 times)
Li Weilong
Kakorine Sergey
Giorgy Szilard
Demeter Lehel
Xie yu zhang
Krisztina Toth
Feng Xiaoquan
Yannick Vostes
Petr David
Stephan Ouaiche
Zhang Jie
Gardos krisztian
Sadilek Thomas
Gardos Robert (in double)

He recently won with Francesco Trevisan (n5. U15 in europe, currently n36 Italian rank) and Luca Bressan (around 20-30 Italian rank)

Are there players with this style in your country?
Here‘s the video with Stefano!

Great playing 👏
The energy expenditure was a bit unfair…

Never seen such a player before…
What equipment did he play with?

Cheers

You must have been distracted by the video, it's clearly stated at the beginning of OP's post... 😜

By the way, what club is that @Jackcerry_ ?
It was great fun to watch, though I'm not sure as to how fun it was to play! :ROFLMAO:

It’s always hard to play with him, and the first time is even worse o_O
This place is the biggest center in Milan, a very nice Table tennis center

This is a very fun and funky style. I would love to see more like this and play against similar. Obviously, he has a great understanding of the game and has great technique but I think his best weapon is that he can anticipate what the opponent will do before the opponent decides themselves, so his twiddling and reaction are just so amazing.

But you know what? I actually liked the end when you swapped paddles. I'm pretty sure few years ago I felt disgusted by such players and their microwaved, UV cured etc etc setup (not saying he does it but many do) But some players in the club I recommended SP and LP and I played against them and the funny story is that before I was pretty bad against such players but now I love them. They are so funky and fun to play against and I feel so comfy against them. Sometimes I also play with their setup, and I noticed I really love DHS C8 1.0 blue sponge on my backhand.
So just coming from myself when I get old and drive a Mercedes and have saggy balls I will probably do something similar, be it C8 or whatever that will suit me. And judging from your play you can too 🤣 Just buy Maserati, not Mercedes...
And since I have been playing against similar player (granted not so good) and I have also for the lulz tried similar equipment (how it works of you play it) I beat these kind of players with a smile and a laugh on my face while before I was annoyed.

This is why, double inverted is actually a weakness at the amateur level lol. Look at how physically easy it is to play with LP/anti. This guy is not even fit and doesnt move well...

Except the player in the video doesn't represent all amateur players, 'amateur' includes a lot of very good players who could probably go pro if they chose that path and train full-time. (No offense intended to OP) He doesn't have power or accuracy, takes the ball late, produces high balls, plays away from the table, and tactics sometimes include producing heavy spin against the pimples, then struggling with the return. The biggest problem is playing away from the table as that opens up the angles and drop shots and gives the opponent time. The lack of accuracy means the opponent only has to cover 2/3rds of the table, which makes things much easier for him. A good coach could fix all these issues.

Edit: I apologise if I sound a bit harsh / critical. The point of this post is to counter the inevitable 'pimples are cheating / unfair' sentinment introduced to this thread. There are plenty of amateur players who can handle them without issue or complaint.

The problem with the anti-pimple crowd is over-specialisation. They watch Youtube highlights and try to play like that, and that only, because it is the 'correct' way they are told to play. So they train a lot of flicks, topspin and counter-topspin, with very little (or no) chop, push, serve, receive, counters etc. If they had a good chop and small topspin close to the table, they could make life hell for the pimple player. But even a lot of coaches don't train the foundations properly, so what can you do? the student doesn't know what he doesn't know.

I think that most players think this, until they try to use LP/anti themselves. It's only then that you realise the weaknesses of the rubber, and how much skill it takes to play the shots that this guy plays so consistantly.

This is why I'm using anti now haha... I don't see all that many weaknesses tbh, i can attack, counter and block quite well with it too, just not with crazy topspin unlike inverted. The main advantage is becoming almost invulnerable in serve receive lol.

Anyway his opponents are all playing against LP wrong imo especially what to do after their 1st loop gets chopblocked. Imo the correct response is to respect the very strong underspin and step in to do an aggressive early timing angled push with great placement. Instead they all attempt either a weak late timing push that he can attack easily, or attempt to reloop that chopblock which they dont have the capability to do it lol.

Special Treatment deceptive materials is not unusual in Italy as yet,

Yes, Pier Offredi is a reputed proponent of FAIR PLAY. Yea, most of Italians folks would take long-pips cheaters with open disdain and right so.

Yes, the material cheaters still alive and kicking all around Italian table tennis. . A variety of treated rubbers is now available directly from a black huckster offering the losy products on request. Devil likes cheaters most, yet.

I think to beat this kind of player you need to be very strong in serve receive game to get quick points. It will help having much less pressure.

Else It’s also too easy to fall into his game in rallies.

My experience with this kind of players is it’s better to stay at the table and just put back the anti/LP push with block or with a compact light topspin.

No one said anything about cheating. Do you feel it's "FAIR PLAY" to accuse someone of cheating because he's playing with long pimples?

I think the whole depiction of him with raised elbow and BH on FH side *really* does the image of pips a disservice.
I've seen the video posted before and didn't even want to watch someone just airing out his armpit. Now I did watch, and I have to say he's got some serious skills.
He doesn't move much, but he doesn't have to because he makes it difficult to get sharp placement on him. If he's always in the right place, there's no need for movement is there?

But the most impressive is where he twiddles, gets caught with the ball on the wrong side, and instantly adjusts the plan. That takes a really sharp mind.
