Mercury 2 is very popular. Plays nicely if you like softer rubbers. Not much more worth mentioning.

Tornado V5
Rxton 1
Mercury 2

You may want to enhance performance of Kokutaku blue sponge through using a "dry boosting" treatment. Just give your sponge some percussion massage.🔨
This manual therapy is highly recommended if you looking to get the most from a low-grade sponge. It proved effective on a variety of sponges. 🤓

Be happy.

imo right now
- Loki Rxton 1
- Yinhe Mercury 2
- Dhs PF4/PF4-50 (some shops do sell them below $5)
- Sanwei T88
- Reactor Tornado V5 (haven't spend enough time with it)
729 Friendship Cross is the rubber worth trying.
I had a bad experience with 729 Cross, too slow and spin-less even after speed glue (or boosting)
Looking at this price range, only V5 and PF4 is suitable for FH, I often glue the rest to my BH

Anybody tried these rubbers? They look kinda gimmicky, so I'm not sure if they will be good at all.

I tested the 868-blue rubber (with one layer of booster). I haven't had anything better for the money so far (4€). Especially as there has been no oxidation of the surface so far and the stickiness has not yet decreased. Unfortunately, the rubber is a bit heavy (52 g).

What else have you used?

With booster, is it a fast rubber? How hard is it?

Hello! Need rubber for a backhand for beginner player. Now is the price for Loki Rxton 3 very good or is Tornado V5 better?
I really liked Tornado V5 but i boosted it for the BH a long Time ago then lend it to another player so i cant remember how it was new. R3 its quite good, it has a softer feel even if its 39°due to the topsheet Probably. If you want black R3 pro its even better and shouldnt cost much More.😎🤑

Both rubbers seems to have similar tackiness/grip & good durability. (Tornado V5 i can confirm grip last a long long Time even with reduced tackiness 🤩)

This is for a good friend of mine who just started playing tennis. On the forehand he is now trying rxton1 and it works well for him, but on the backhand he needs to find something.
5 freedom bucks is so hard for BH, because on FH you can get like a Mercury 2, PF4-50 or a Globe 999T maybe even a 729 super fx and he's pretty set but on BH I guess the good cheap rubbers are the Rxton 1 plus, the Moon 12.

Maybe as an alternative someone sell him a used FX-P or something? Someone's "scrap" rubber? I usually give those away for kids so maybe even "free"?

I understand that for 5 dollars it is difficult to find rubber for the average player, but for a beginner player, I think it is possible.
Rxton 1, in my opinion, should have been good for the backhand, but it has a rather low throwing angle and as it turned out, Rxton 1 for my friend plays better on the forehand than Mercury 2.
Moon 12 is a great rubber, but too fast for him. I think this is for more advanced players. Let's try Rxton3.
