Hi Guys,

atm im playing a Cybershape Clipper with Zyre 03 on Forehand and Glayzer 09c. Before that, I played the Dignics 09c and Dignics 05 on a regular Clipper (new Version).
My Problem was the durability with 09c, and that the Tackiness goes away, and I usually only change my Rubbers every season.

Before that setup, I played FZD Alc and Hurricane, which I like because it was quite controlled but it was too fast on Backhand.

So my Question is if a boosted Hurricane Neo 3 Provincial Blue Spong could work on a Clipper(either form) and how long does the rubber last (booster and rubber surface).

Thank you

Did you boost your Dignics 09c? I heard that it affects durability of the tackiness.
I think boosted H3N works on soft or medium blades that have some dwell to them so you can generate more RPM easier.
Played unboosted H3N 2.15 mm on Tibhar IV-S OFF- blade and it felt very controlled, but I struggled to play offensively due to low power. Serves were great on FH and I could loop with many rotations, but the velocity wasn't dangerous for opponent so instead of FH I used it on BH for close to the table control and lobbing game.

How does it affect the durability? The Sponge Hardness was no Problem so far.

Ah i understand. No i have never boosted anything yet. I played the dignics for around half a year
Have you tried Donic Baracuda? I heard it's not too bouncy and has good spin. Haven't tried it myself, but I tried the Acuda rubbers before and they are also good at brushing shots.

Of course it could/would, it's kind of classics (the might be some specifics regarding Cybershape, but regular Clipper and CR are used with boosted H3 by literally tens of thousands of people worldwide).
How long it lasts will depend on your level, hours of play per week, sponge hardness, the booster you use and the number of layers. Sorry for being Captain Obvious here))

no worries im thankful for every input. I usually train around 5 Hrs per week plus games on the weekend. Do you have any experience with boosted hurricane and how long does it last. I know its also preference but i like to not change my rubber often or only once per season.

Boosters can shorten the lifespan of a rubber as they soften the sponge and expand it, thus affecting the stickyness effect. You sacrifice tackiness for bouncyness
Can you elaborate on how expanding/softening the sponge directly affects the tackiness of the topsheet?
I fear I'm missing a few steps...

When the sponge absorbs booster it expands and this stretching disrupts the surface stickyness. The topsheet becomes more elastic and it grabs the ball during fast contact thus you get more spin.

Why would the stretching disrupt the surface stickiness?
This is the first time I'm hearing that... and it also doesn't correspond to what i experienced in person.
Simply stating it doesn't automatically make it true. Is there any physical or chemical principle, or other kind of evidence to support your claim?

The booster is absorbed in sponge and topsheet. The topsheet became softer and more sticky, depending of the rubber. Softer topsheet is easy to damage. Also, not every rubber responds well on boosters. Different boosters have different effects, for different times. H3 responds well, but will need 2-3 layers of seamon yellow to reach D09C, and will not perform the same for half a year. So, you need to reboost and reglue. Another option is just to adapt to lower speed and use "forever" booster Falco Platinum. Or just don't boost, try nittaku h3 turbo, xiom china VM etc, boosted H3 equivalents.

H3 is very durable rubber with just one weak point - topsheet is easy to oxidize and lose grip. I am using a non-sticky cover sheet and distilled water for cleaning. Keeping surface always covered without air bubbles and dust - easy play for 6 months, 99% performance as new.

H3 Prov OS + Falco Long (initial boost with 2 layers, then 2 re-boosts with 1 layer about 2 months apart) = more than 1 year and still going.

The sheet has softened too much for my liking, and obviously there’s no top speed or spin effect anymore, but the rubber is definitely not dead. I don’t feel any severe limitations when using it, and I don’t want to go through the hassle of re-adapting to a new sheet (although I probably should).

So for my needs, the durability is high. If I were chasing the rubber’s top performance, it would only last 3-4 months.

TDE is interesting rubber - very sticky, soft topsheet, very hard sponge, heavy. The factory boost is gone after 2-3 week and the rubber becomes dead. So, manual boosting is a must. I do not expect to be playable after 2 months of regular play, topsheet is fragile.

My own TDE is boosted with just one layer falco platinum. I like it more on BH. Can perform all kinds of funy shots due to high skickiness, but the spin level on service is lower than H3.
