Sponge thickness 2.5 and 2.7? 🤯

This is interesting. I really like the 2.3mm extra thick sponges on the Dragon Grip and Andro series, etc. But 2.7 is pretty insane.

Does the thicker sponge make the rubber better as a FH or BH rubber?

My dude you read that wrong. Its the same arc as Dignic 09c, more spin than 09c and more speed than Dignics 05.
My excitement died when i saw the high arc and sponge hardness. Was wishing for a softer Dignics 05 but got a non tacky and faster 09c.

check out the butterfly official website rubber matrix: Z03 is an incremental in speed and spin compared to d09c. It is now the most spiny rubber in the whole Butterfly family. However, in terms of speed, it is lower than D64. To me, it is an sup up version of d09c!

I don't think I agree that a topsheet that deforms less creates more contact area.
Like on mountain bikes, the tyres are inflated to really low pressures, so they can deform and wrap around the unevenness of the terrain.
If the topsheet deforms more, doesn't it also wrap around the ball more?

On the other hand, if it does indeed deform less on the Zyre, as well as it having much more sponge, that means you should be able to let the ball sink in very deeply into said sponge and deliver some major power. It seems like a super punch rubber to me, unless the thick sponge takes over the task of the otherwise longer pimples and works as a tangential deformation medium.
Either way, it sounds like you need a fast swing to utilize the potential.
