I get the impression that they set the price based on the success of the athletes who use this rubber and the excitement among amateurs :). How else can such a delay be explained?
They could be ramping up production in anticipation of extreme popularity. It isn't great to release a new rubber and then deal with scarcity as a result of unfulfilled demand.

People: "I bet this new rubber is going to cost 130, no way I'll buy it!"
*sigh, opens wallet*

Plus, it may not break the bank as badly as people may expect

Good, they should slash prices then,
there are no Zyre users left in MS - Harimoto just lost to An Jaehyun o_O,
LYJ is done, so is Togami.
In MD, Harimoto made it to the Semis, though, so oh well...

Harimoto, Togami, and Jha have all been in good form with good results lately. It'll help the Zyre hype lol.

Their form hasn't changed. It's the rubber that has given them the advantage in their matches ;)

What makes you think Dima and Qiu Dang and the rest of the German team hasn't switched to Zyre already? The German team doesn't use inferior rubbers, they are heavy on Butterfly, and may be already switching to Zyre for all you know. Kanak was also already on it I believe. So just assume that anyone Butterfly related may be using it.

My thoughts exactly and you are probably right.
On the other hand, just imagine that players are also very particular about their current rubber setup. I'd say the Germans more than most.
Quick peek at the Butterfly's website shows Franz, Kanak, Togami, Uda, Yoshimura, even Aditya Sareen - plus the usual suspects - all using Zyre. Not Dima and Qiu though.

I think it's too specific to be lack of updating their new rubber roster.

And Walther isn't big time sponsored, so I will leave that possibility out there as well. But I agree with you, Dang waited till after the 2024 Olympics or 2023 WTTC to switch to Dignics 09c on backhand if I recall correctly. So your point is well taken.

I know a handful of players who have tested and in some cases adopted Zyre who I would consider particular about their equipment. See below.

As some have noted, D05 to Zyre is seen as a more natural switch than D09c to Zyre.

The change between what Dang was using before to 09c is probably far more intense compared to the change from D09c/D05 to Zyre based on what I've heard about Zyre's characteristics.
