Will be a bit long, but I haven't written anything on the forum for ages :D :p

To be honest, I was the first Zyre hater when it first came out. I wasn't interested to it after few 1st tests, just observing reviews online and on forums. I hit a few times someone else blade, but I was already prejudiced against it. Recently, I wanted to try something new. For a while now, as I've mentioned in threads, I've been "set" on Koto top ply and Viscaria-type blades. Basically, everything I've tried with a similar design has been more or less a good fit for me, such as the TB ZLF (Viscaria structure but without the carbon), Xiom HAL (as above), Stiga Inspira Plus (WMY), FZD ALC, etc. In any case, Limba and inner structures weren't my cup of tea. DHS W/Q968 and Andro Syntheliac VCI were a disaster. Of course, after many experiences with rubbers and tests, I always came back to Butterfly rubbers, due to the quality and weight. I'd settled on a D05 (boostered) on FH and tossed around D80/D64 on BH, but ultimately, due to my decent BH, the D64 was definitely better. For a while now, this has been my setup, and I knew what to expect. I also knew, because of my BH, that anything beyond 150x157 is out of the question. And inners are usually large pans designed for FH loops and head heave. I recently asked our forum friend ( @Catenaccio - thanks mate! :) ) "Hey, can you get me an Innerforce ALC?" It's an inner but with standard dimensions, and at around 89 grams, I prefer heavier to lighter to avoid that empty, hollow, boxy bounce. It might be worth trying Zyre, which performs better with slower blades (as was mentioned here in this thread). So I bought an 89-gram Innerforce ALC, a 2.5mm Zyre-03 to try on the BH, and my standard rubber, the D05, on the FH.
Of course, once everything arrived, I ran a booster on both the Z03 and D05, and glued everything together with the InnerForce ALC. Trying so many setups, after a while, you know after a few bounces whether it's the one or not. It's just a matter of adjusting and getting used to it. And the result exceeded my expectations.
I've been playing with this setup for over three weeks, and what I can immediately feel is that this one doesn't have that boxy, hollow sound. The balance is centered neither in the head nor too much in the handle. The D05 on the InnerForce, there's absolutely no difference compared to the Golden Viscaria. I don't feel like I've slowed down, and the hits are consistent and on the table. Control is also excellent. However, the biggest shock comes from the BH. Zyre, oh, Zyre, suits my style of play so well that every time I hit with it, a smile comes to my face. You can play a flick from practically any serve. The BH loops are powerful, very spinny, and they go to the end of the table, making them very difficult to return/blobk. Usually, they're always 9/10 finishing shots, but the best part is the active block and the sight of your opponent pivoting on the BH side, hitting the FH topspin, and the very fast ball returns to his FH side down the line. His face tells everything just watching the ball go, and then he look at you, and his eyes could kill you :D :p

All in all, I don't know if it's the quality of that blade, if this Z03 suits me, or a combination of both, but I've been truly delighted from the first moment I started playing with this, having some really "big toys" in my stash.

This is my 2 cents with regards to Z03.

tl;dr they like the boing-boing on BH, you have a new buddy in the Zyre fanclub

Togami also loves super duper boing-boing on his BH. Allows him to stay far from table.
Meanwhile Unker Gozo also loves to play a little mid distance. Eyes not so good to track super fast ball, need to stand further so a little bit more time to track ball properly. Super duper boing-boing rubber makes mid distance play easier.

I got to spend much more time with this since my initial tries last December when I was gifted a 6 month old sheet from my club buddy a few weeks ago. He plays around 10-14 hours a week. I think I originally said I'd take a blue sponge H3 over this back then, but now I'm not so sure. It seems much more spin capable than what I originally felt, and maybe easier to create spin than with H3 on serves. Although the tech sheets say the sponge hardness is similar to my H3 40 degree blue sponge, it feels softer but just as direct (which is different from Tenergy). Although hitting with it is easier compared to H3, brush strokes work very naturally coming from H3. I would say I can generally do more with Zyre 03 while generating just as much spin as with H3. I never boosted H3, so maybe there's more spin with boosted H3. But if someone did boost, it appears to be more trouble free than H3 and maybe just as long lasting? Perhaps it's not as good as when my club buddy got it new, but it's quite comparable to my own 7 month worn H3.

At the top end, it does get alot of spin which i feel is comparable to H3. However its the lower end when you get a float ball or neutral ball where I feel it is much harder to return the ball with a good spin or speed compared to H3.

When the ball coming to you does not have much spin or speed, its just much harder to return the ball with spin that troubles your opponent compared to H3, where a light fast brush will get the ball back and somewhat trouble your opponent especially if you can do good placement at the same time. These easy strokes are much more difficult with the Z03 as you have to engage the hard sponge somewhat more and cant rely on the sticky top sheet for a easy spin. Of course if your footwork is good, then you will just step in and smash/drive the winner. But hey, I wish I could do that everytime.

I've used both Zyre-03 (boosted it 😎) and boosted Hurricane 3 and I can say people I played against struggled against me with them, but for different reasons. For Zyre-03 it was because I was able to hit much faster shots and for H3 it was because I was able to add more spin and have a lower arc to my shots. I do agree that Zyre-03 felt very natural hitting with coming from H3, and the biggest differences for me was speed, fast serves, and short game. Enjoyed Zyre-03, but definitely not worth $120 USD (I bought it from Amazon Japan so it was cheaper)

Guys what is difference between Zyre 2.7 and 2.5 thickness ? Someone tried both rubbers?
I am on the edge of trying these two on same blade, but mostly I see people playing with Zyre03 on BH, but I am thinking of getting it on FH or at least to try playing with them on both sides ... anyone playing with Zyre03 on FH?

2.5 is slightly slower and has a higher arc for how I brush. I am going to test it out at some point on both sides of my racket but I am committed to 2.7 at least through the end of this year.
