Joola japan removed all the new Hugo stuff from the website, but the new blades for both Liam Pitchford and Kenji Matsudaira is still up (both made in China, which I think is a pretty big letdown 🥴)

I'm not gonna say don't buy, but these blades are really quite expensive.
For Liam's blade, assuming Japan's consumption tax rate of 8%, pretax MSRP would be 25300 yen (160 usd), which is around the price of a BTY ZLC blade. And for that price you get a blade made in China... (I'm not saying MIC stuff is inherently bad, but there's a reason why MIJ products are sought after/why MIC stuff is considered a cut below) Not to mention ADK (Korean OEM for Xiom and ofc Joola iirc, deep partnership with both brands) is right there and they could've contracted them to make Liam's blade

Japan's tax rate has been 10% since 2019, up from 8%, except for food and non-alcoholic beverages.

Pricing and country of origin don't matter all that much if the player is getting good results. MIJ is also not what it was cracked up to be anymore. The made-in-China Swat actually has better finishing than the made-in-Japan ZX-Gear series, despite both being designed by Victas.

Seems like the rubber will probably be around the end of March, first blade early April. Something like that. The production takes a little while. I would safely say April.

I would imagine in the $80usd range. It will likely vary a little by region and distributor.
