Koreans are awestruck and mesmerized by Mizuno shoes, seems at least 1/2 the amature crowd uses Mizuno shoes.

Someone recently told me that the Joola shoes are actually Mizuno shoes rebranded. That Mizuno makes those shoes for Joola the way Asics makes the shoes for Butterfly.

I am not sure that it true, but if it is, Joola is selling those shoes for slightly less than Mizuno unlike how Butterfly sells their shoes for a 25% markup on the price of the same Asics shoe.

I have only heard good things about Mizuno shoes. Same with Butterfly and Asics shoes. However, as far as Stiga shoes are concerned: I unfortunately was the owner of a pair, and they were not made well.

Having had a pair of Stiga shoes that looked way stronger than those fall apart in a way that I have never had any shoe of any kind fall apart, I am skeptical of their durability. The Stiga shoes I had were a top of the line model. The cost over $100.00 USD. They were not strong enough to handle lateral movements. The soles of the shoes are still good. They hardly got wear on the sole. But the upper got torn apart from the lateral movements. There were rips on the inner edge and outer edge of the shoe on both shoes, within about 2 months of steady play: 4 days a week 2-4 hours each day. On the inner part of the shoe the rips when from my big toe to the center of my arch. on the outside it went from my little toe more than half way to the heel.

I know that some of the previous Stiga shoes may not have had the best quality but i have read that the new Instinct is made by a new manufacture. I have only been playing with them for a couple of weeks so of course i can't say if they will last forever, but i can tell you that the quality feels great and it's a big difference from previous Shoes.

I do hope you are right. I will be happy to hear that they have fixed the problem. My shoes played great at the beginning. They worked really really well. They felt as good as any shoe I have used for table tennis. But within 2 months the sides started to tear. They still played well for another two months as the sides started to tear. But by 5 months it was like walking in sandals and I had to stop using them. The soles were still fine. The soles were not very worn. But the upper part of the shoe was not made to deal with LATERAL MOVEMENT, which makes no sense, for a table tennis shoe not to be strong and supportive for lateral movement.

Well, I hope the ones you have are better. But they don't look so strong in that same area of the sides.

A table tennis shoe is not supposed to last forever. But 2 months is a bit ridiculous. Lets hope the new ones are made to stand up to real table tennis footwork. I know my indoor soccer shoes are holding up fine and I have now been using them for almost a year. They work as well as any table tennis shoe I have had and they cost half as much. I like that.

Haha like walking in sandals sounds a bit fun when i get the picture in my head. As i said i know that some of the previous shoes not have been a big success when it comes to quality, must say that these feel different, hopes that i'm not wrong. I can write in this thread in a couple of months to se who's right! ;)

says Back on TTD finally 🥳
For me the Mizuno Wave Drive 6 are perfect!
They weigh very very little and feel very soft too. Also they have enough grip that you won't slip and fall like it was the case with standard sports shoes I had before.
Those were made for indoor sports in general but they weren't by far as good as the Mizuno. So in general I would recommend light shoes with much grip on the sole.

Well, I hope you are right also. I just don't trust Stiga. There are so many things they make that are on the low quality side. I love their blades. But many of their blades are easy to break. That does not matter to me. Because they feel great and play great. But some people like that. The place I play at uses all Stiga 2 star balls. The quality on the balls they get is horrendous. Many of them are worse than most 1 star balls I have used before. There are balls where you can feel the seem. There are balls where the air pressure in the ball is way too low. They are not Stiga's higher quality 2 star balls, but, they are so bad and there is no excuse for that.

Therefore, despite wanting to like Stiga, I have no faith in the quality of their products. Their clothing is good. But the shoes I got were soooooooooo bad it was, in my opinion, almost criminal.

Couldn't agree more with Carl. my first setup was with a stiga blade and i had a horrible experience. But most of all due to the fact that I don't like vibrations.
Never mind that too if the balls are at least of good quality. Stiga Competition a 3* ball is worse than Donic/DHS 1*.
Not to mention the worst of all balls is the Stiga Cup and GKI Long Life.

For me it depends on the flooring of the court, if it is rubber and wood I use bty (4yrs and still in good condition), if it is concrete and tiles I use barefoot shoes(2yrs and still good).. very light at doing lateral movement and quick pivot.
