Choosing the perfect backhand rubber to a forehand-oriented player

Hi guys,

I currently play with boosted Tenergy 05 on both sides(2 layers each side). For my forehand, it's the perfect rubber. For my backhand I like also, but it's a bit hard, and it's too reactive to incoming spin.

As I'm a forehand-oriented, i use my backhand to rarely open the point, I block and hit at the able, and often go back to the table to lob. I would like to try a rubber a bit softer and a less reactive to incoming spin, but good to block, good at mid-distance and also close-to-the-table, but without loosing too much spin. Can you guys give me an advice? Maybe I would like to give a change to non-Butterfly rubbers so go on!

I´ve tried several rubber which I´ve considered ideal for my BH....but there is always "BUT"
This time I am very happy with my BH - Tibhar 5Q....give it a try.....It has a perfect block, chop and smash....for me ideal....
I am using the thickness 1.9 so I still take an advantage of feeling my excellent blade....

Wait.why do you boost your T05?
Rakza rubbers from Yasaka,Bluefire rubbers from Donic and Airoc rubbers from Stiga might be good for you.

In fact,T05 might be right for you if you don't boost it.

I like to boost rubbers because makes block easier, I almost dont put effort in my strokes to get a strong topspin. And in my opinion a boosted Tenergy is the best rubber I can have(for forehand ahahah). Yeahhh I was also thinking changing to FX version, or Donic BlueFire M2, because it's not so diferent from Tenergy 05 ,but a bit less reactive to incoming spin. Thanks

Hi,

I've good experience with T80.
Almost the same spin, less sensitive to incoming spin.
And very good at blocking (activ). Recomended for ALC-blades.

Thanks roger In last season, I was about to try 80, but I was a bit afraid, because I use 05 at 4/5 years. But thats nice to hear. In next season I'll change from TBALC to Garaydia ALC or custom made Kong Linghui Special(Garaydia maybe a rebranding of KLS)

Andro Impuls Powersponge is the answer for weak backhands!

Sounds like you hace the same problem with your backhand as I previously had. This rubber solved it and now my backhand is almost as good as my forehand. My 'weak and forced to lob' backhand turned into a topspin monster.

I wouldnt go with any Tenergy (not even fx versions)

If you really want a butterfly rubber you can try Sriver FX but I can tell you Andro Impuls Powersponge will not dissapoint you.

Not many people use/have heard of this rubber. Its a very underrated rubber in my opinion.
Especially when trying to develop a killer backhand/ forehand.

Xiom Vega Pro is a nice bh rubber. It is not soft but feels softer than Tenergy and the control is very good. Not as sensitive to incoming spin as Tenergy 05. Spin is only a little bit worse. U should try it. The price is very good.

I used T80 FX for the first time tonight on a Viscaria which is similar to the TB ALC very good control, soft and imo it doesn't react that badly to incoming spin.

Hey, I have had a lot of problems with control/block on backhand in the past and tried several rubbers.
"Tibhar Aurus Soft" is extremely well designed for backhand play. I ve been playing with it for a year now and would not want to change to any other. It has a soft--medium hard sponge ; good grip for lifting backspin either from over the table or outside it ; it is not very sensitive to incoming spin and hence good for blocking (though the softness of sponge also helps in absorbing the pace and incoming spin a bit). It is not a super fast rubber and hence gives a lot of control in keeping the ball on the table even when you swing hard by mistake sometimes. It is a medium high throw rubber (useful for backhand) but the trajectory is not very long (due to soft sponge and medium speed), hence balls mostly tend to land on table. Moreover, it is not very expensive as well. 5Q is good for attack but not for defence due to its sensitivity to incoming spin and slightly harder topsheet.
I ve tried "aurus soft" on a variety of blades -- hard/soft/stiff/flexy (viscaria, andro super core cell off+, tibhar stratus samsonov carbon) and this rubber has proved its worth everytime....
You must give it a try !!
