Clipper CR Setup Advice

yes sounds right to me, too. The blade should be always in a light OFF version, not full OFF or OFF+. I know an ex USA player with an USA rating of around 2000 and he couldnt even get my serves properly, dont even mention he didnt get over 5 points in a single set against me. He was playing Boll ALC with both sides T05, I was playing these days (it was probably 2 years ago or even longer) still a Stiga OFF Classic with Xiom Vega Pro and the Narucross GS Hard. His blade was soooo much faster than mine but still he couldnt even handle it, all of his blocks came just to long. Tabletennis has a lot to do with "feeling", thats the reason Waldner was soooooooo successful. And I dont think the most of the people here have the feeling unless they are really getting in the upper classes of leagues. And feeling is a matter of the racket, Im very sure about that. I dont have any feeling with an ALC, yes I could play it but never as good as a simple Rosewood, OFF Classic, YEO or anything else.

So if you want to invest in a blade, get yourself a 5ply all wood blade with 2 fast rubbers and youre gonna be a beast. Best example is Joo Sey Huyk here, defense blade and look at the topspins, incredible!

My personal formula I would recommend anybody: Decent blade and fast rubbers. If you want it faster, get faster rubbers. If the fastest rubbers arent fast enough, boost them. But leave your blade OFF- or at least 5ply. The rubbers can be as fast as they can get, but the blade is the soul, you really need a blade which is controllable and a the Clipper CR is definitely faster than the Rosewood with less control. About the normal Clipper, I dont know. But if you dont want to spend over 100USD for a Rosewood, STIGA INFINITY VPS V.

best regards and no offense guys, thats really personal for me haha :D

I totally get your point and I do not oppose them, really. It is actually good for someone to have a firm belief to give a solid advice. :) I would love to have the infinity blade, but because of the numerous separating of toplies, I have chosen Clipper instead. More powerful, more solidly built, and cheaper than the infinity. Well I said "solidly built" because I haven't seen clipper with toplies separating, yet. And also because I can't have that problem for 6-7 months as I can't change blade, except if the seller want to refund. Hehe. I do not and will stay away from boosting rubbers.

I've pretty much decided on the clipper cr guys. I thank you for all your advices/suggestions so far. :)

BS, from your description, that US player would have had difficulty returning your serves even with a Joola Toni Hold White Spot and anti rubber. If you are TTR 2000 and other player is USA 2000, then that would be a normal expected result.

well my rating last season was around 2000 (for 2 years ago something around 1850 to 1900) and that guy was never better than 1700 in Germany, I would say even worse. I just wanted to point out that his equipment was way to fast for him and this counts for 90% of all players here. So I kind of dont understand this ALC hype, very stiff and hard blades which are very fast and dont give you any space for mistakes.

@harveyaquino:
Well then get the Clipper CR and write us how it performs ;) If it works, why not. If it doesnt work, were here for you buddy :D

I agree with most of this. I do think that 5 ply all wood blades make a lot of sense. I would say Offensive Classic, Avalox P500, Butterfly Primorac Off-, Petr Korbel, but I would not say Infinity VPS. I hit with two different ones that a friend had. But had some weird thing where the plies delaminated and the racket came apart. And the blade did not really play well. The outer plies were too hard and the inner plies were too soft. Played very strangely.

One blade I have that I used for a long time that I think is awesome is a Stiga Allround Evolution. It plays just like a slow version of a Clipper. Excellent blade.

And it is definitely true that too many people go out and get rackets that have carbon in them that are way too fast and it inhibits their ability to improve.

I love the Clipper and I would go with the Calibra LT Spin which is a great combination!

says Aha, sorry. Trodde du var en annan Millesom spelar i...
I would put Nittaku Fastarc G1-Yasaka Rakza9-Donic Baracuda- Adidas P7-Andro Rasant Grip on forehand
I would put Nittaku Fastarc S1- Palio Blitz-Butterfly Tenegy 64- Stiga Calibra spin-Andro Rasant Powergrip on backhand.

Any of those combinations is going to rock the foundation in your training-hall!

I have lately discovered on blades that flex, a medium soft rubber does well.

The OP's option of T05 and Calibra Spin is a potent combo, if he has the money for it.

Butt Stallion would have defeated the US player 100-300 TTR points lower level no matter what he used. That is too much a gulf in class.

I am in a similar level as the US dude BS defeated (I am prolly 1600-1700 tops TTR) and would probably do better than that guy did. Sometimes equipment makes things more difficult for us, but often, it is not being as good at fundamentals and tactics.

FH; Tenergy 05
BH; Bluefire M2

I use this setup myself and its very good. With the Tenergy 05 you can get high quality shots with minimal effort. The Bluefire M2 is similair to the Tenergy 05 but it slightly softer and its just as 'easy to use' as the Tenergy 05, I also think that it has the same amount of spin. It has a slightly softer feel than Tenergy 05. Lets say it is Tenergy 80 hardness. Very good for spinny backhand flicks.
