how can I make this fit in 7mm?

20160207_114243_2.jpg

I thought
outer layer -> 2.0mm
blue layer -> 1.5mm
center -> x
blue layer -> 1.5mm
outer layer -> 2.0mm

but if I do it this way the core is 0cm lol
any suggestions?

I can do
1.0 outer
1.0 blue
3.0 center
1.0 blue
1.0 outer

but looking at a ruler 1.0 seems extremely thin.

What wood do you plan to use? That will help determine the thickness as most ppl like limba to be thin while aryous could be thicker. Hopefully the following blades will help give insight to wood thickness ? denotes not sure as its ruler is too big to accurately measure smaller measurements of less than 1mm. Ill update on my TB ALC once i get it back. its on loan to my friend

JM zlc: 7ply 7mm
Limba 0.9mm?
ZLC 0.1mm?
Limba 1mm
KIRI 3mm
Limba 1mm
ZLC 0.1mm?

Clipper CR WRB: 7ply 7mm
Limba 0.2 mm?
Ayous 0.8 mm?
Ayous 1.5mm
Ayous 2mm
Ayous 1.5mm
Ayous 0.8 mm?

this blade already existed, it was called banda dacota.
it's ayous - koto - ayous - koto - ayous.
it's nothing special but well I had one and sold it so always had that idea of getting it back....

Thats an interesting composition. From what i understand, koto is usually used as an outer ply. I read somewhere that if you use ayous as an outer ply, it has to be thicker as its a very soft wood and too thin a ply will cause it to strip, split, shed and break easily. Definately have to seal it
