You still have time to practice with your new rubber before Sunday's tournament? :)

Good point :) I just played two hours with it! Its a tad faster than the regular h3n. I like the flared handle so much xD my backhand was much better with it, because i could change grips better.

I going to take both rackets with me. But id like to play with the new one :)

Haven't been on the forum's as much lately. Question time For U.S. taxpayers! How much do I have to make from table tennis before I can deposit my winnings as income? It would be nice to be able to write off table tennis purchases as a job expense.

That's good to hear :)

It's only a different sponge compared to the regular H3N, right?

You happen to have a blade with a straight handle as well?

It says that its the same topsheet as a provincial H3N ( thinner than commercial one and better quality) And the sponge is a bit softer and more "Japanese" like. No I don't. I have tried it out before, but ended up not liking it. The flared just feels like heaven :D Played with a anatomic handle for a while now, because i had to downgrade my setup.

Additional thoughts on playing with the boosted Nittaku H3n:

I put on 2 layers of falco long booster. However i think its a bit too fast, as the rubber is faster than a normal H3N.
The top sheet is under much tension and it feels like i have very little dwell time with it upon contact. It's extremely sensitive to spin!
Maybe i need to play more with it more until it regulates itself. I made the experience that Hurricane rubbers need some time to develop their characteristics.

So you first played with a Stiga Allround Classic with anatomic handle, before you bought the Vega Pro blade? Then you decided to go back to the Allround Classic as we talked about before, but didn't like the anatomic handle and bought an Allround Classic with a flared handle?

Your other H3N rubber, it was a commercial one? If so, is there a noticable difference (regarding the topsheet) with the Nittaku one you just bought?

OSPH,

No one should be surprised if it takes a month or to get half-azz used to new equipment, that is why I said try it out for a month and see where you stand. What I know about that setup is that it facilitates ease of play close to the table. The blade on your drives is really an ALL+ to OFF- blade and that kind of slower speed with absorption at impact is what you need to do to control counter at the table and smash. You don't need huge pace close to table, opponent is already under time pressure since you took it quick. Additionally, this setup is sweet for opener vs underspin, and is good vs a dead return you hit through. Counter topspinning at the table is good too if you grow into that. You already know it will block well.

As PP Holic said, it is not nearly as strong away from table for offense (Something PP Holic values a LOT and he uses blades that perform well for that)

What is good about the grip tape is it adds a little weight where you need it, it balances out excess vibration, and it allows you to have a soft grip (when you choose) and not feel like the bat will shake or move in your hand at impact. That kind of feel is real important for touch on the ball.

Going forward, in a few weeks, you will likely have a higher opinion of the blade if you stay at the table and do well what you already do, plus grow into an opener/powerloop 3rd/5th ball combo hitter.

I haven't been able to play at all for some time, so I've just been doing bed serves and shadows.

I think I'm getting somewhere with whip mechanics and relaxation: what felt like overuse of the wrist feels just fine now, and my old mechanics stress my shoulder quite a lot now when I can compare it to something better.

It'll probably take some time to transfer into actual strokes, and I'll just keep tensing up in actual play, but just now I flung my bat into my bookcase when I was doing shadows. That counts as a milestone to me. ;)

Woha nice observation :D You are correct!

Jea my other H3N are all commercial ones. I had very tacky ones and other ones that weren't tacky at all.

So differences i noticed are the pimple structure seems a bit different. I think the pimples are smaller and closer to each other on the Nittaku one. The topsheet is not very tacky, but still has plenty of grip.
Also the sponge does not bear a fish smell like with the commercial ones. Maybe no factory boost, or a different method?

OSPH,

No one should be surprised if it takes a month or to get half-azz used to new equipment, that is why I said try it out for a month and see where you stand.

My posts were meant to show my journey/frustration/joy of my game progressing/regressing and not aimed at the racket! The Nexy Amazon CPen is a joy for me to hit with!

Is there a site that can explain the meanings/ratings of "ALL+", "OFF-", etc?

Additionally, this setup is sweet for opener vs underspin, and is good vs a dead return you hit through. Counter topspinning at the table is good too if you grow into that. You already know it will block well.
Blocking/punching is awesome. Next phase is working on the rest you mentioned. I have no doubt the Amazon can perform, i have more doubt in my execution though LOL ... will keep these points in mind.

As PP Holic said, it is not nearly as strong away from table for offense (Something PP Holic values a LOT and he uses blades that perform well for that)

Yeah PP Holic is excellent away from the table! I'm way older and slower and prefer close-to-the-table play. I've not even tried to play away from the table with it.

What is good about the grip tape is it adds a little weight where you need it, it balances out excess vibration, and it allows you to have a soft grip (when you choose) and not feel like the bat will shake or move in your hand at impact. That kind of feel is real important for touch on the ball.

At first, I thought it strange you suggested the grip tape for a PH, even Carl was questioning it. But guessed it was to add a little weight... after trying it out ... you are spot on! Love it.

Going forward, in a few weeks, you will likely have a higher opinion of the blade if you stay at the table and do well what you already do, plus grow into an opener/powerloop 3rd/5th ball combo hitter.

I hope my posts didn't come across as a negative review of the Amazon. On the contrary, I have a very high opinion of it already! I love it!! Yes Carl, i love it so much, I'm going to marry it :) --- old joke that only oldtimers will get)

After my beloved Excalibur (Double Happiness "08" 7-ply CPen) died, I was trying to adapt to my Avalox P700 Cpen as it was my backup racket. The handle is too big for me and I couldn't adapt after 4 months of so of 2-3x a week hitting/playing with it. With the Nexy Amazon/MX-P combo it played 99% like Excalibur right off the bat (pun intended)!

Thank you!

That sounds like very bad quality control, so buying DHS rubbers is kind of a shot in the dark?

Osph.
Upon returning to playing with your old blade, send _der a pic and just leave the same hashtag I use when PM-ing Carl: #billybushmademedoit

...

I have NO idea how that will land but, over here in Europe, that gets people rolling on the floor..

Aaaaaanyway.. As the old bulldogs titled their best album: Never mind the bollox!

We all (penholders @ least) follow your progress with exitement! Moaaaar sexy pics of the blade please! :)

LOL -- thank you Brother! Deeply honored!

New pix perhaps tonight ... and definitely when i add on the longpips OX.

Oh, i had 2 'accidents' sadly and the Amazon is 'bruised' -- ugh on me, i can be a klutz.

Will post some old pix i had which i didn't get to post yet. And take pix of the bruises. I hate myself for them.

I'm sorry to hear that your blade got some damage :(

A while ago my racket got its first 'battle scar', I hit a chuck out of the rubber. Well, it's not a huge piece but when it happened I wasn't very happy about it. Especially because I tend to treat all my properties with good care.

From experience I can say that the first damage to something is most 'painful' though. Not sure if others also experience it like that.

Hopefully your blade only got some minor damage.

Your words are true OSPH, and everyone understands them as you intended. Feeling the ball and a feeling of control are important for a blade rubber combo.

The speed ratings are kinda a lame thing but you measure in some kind of relative system. Many blades play at different speeds on different shots, kinda like having gears.

Won table one in league tonite. Got by owners son 11 to 9 in 5th and he had almost worst day of his life blocking. He wins me on almost touch alone. I am almost low 1800s in one league and 2020 to 2030 in another league.

Had a player drop out of our Squad for 2016 Washington DC NA Teams Tourney and recruited one more the next day. Still looking for a 1900 to 2200 ringer.

That would be categorized as "Battle Damage"...

You would not comprehend how much I am Hell on blades. A blade rarely lasts me a year.
