and how about that long reverse pendelum serve from the middle of the table to bh :D ? I am prouder of it than the short ones ^^

I was really surprised with those counter from close distance when I thought that I was hitting finishers. Blocking and countering from close distance was really a problem, because I was not ready for the ball to return

Traditional European style vs close to the table Asian style. When most Europeans see it for the first time, they always complain "no one in my club plays like that!"

oh NextLevel, 1 day before I left to Japan I played with my friend that has long and short chops.
He is staying close to table all the time blocking and coutnering. I have no chance against him, I took only 1 set from him in 2 hours.
He has very unique style, he is playing only for hobby, but often troubles even 2nd league players, so "close to the table Asian style" is not that weird for me, but it still caused some troubles
Unfortunately I don't have video of him playing, the newest one is from 3 years ago

Just found this quote from Agassi on tennis , its surprising how some of the ideas can be so easily transitioned on to best practices on table tennis ... thought of sharing ...
In an article for BT, Agassi provides three tips to tennis fans who want to improve their game.

1. Think about what’s going wrong. “There’s always something that people struggle with and they don’t know why. Like, ‘I always miss this shot. But the good news with tennis is there are always reasons for why you feel what you feel on a tennis court.”

2. Learn to trust. “It’s trust in execution. To execute properly, you have to not hesitate, you have to be clear. You have to be calculating but reactive. You have to eventually trust that what you’re doing is the right thing. That is the difference between ‘the best’, and the best on any given day. Confidence is a by-product of that. You can’t get confidence until you do that.”

3. Don’t be in a hurry. "Control and power in tennis comes from how long you keep that ball on your strings towards your target. So your swing might be flat, it might be up, but the time that ball spends on the racket is the same, and that’s where you get the control from. That’s why they [coaches] tell you to follow through, because then you’re keeping it [the power] in the strike zone.”

@UpSideDownCarl

Carl, I don't know why, but YouTube is recommending me this:

Category: Comedy

If the category is anything other than comedy I would be surprised. But your YouTube account must realize you needed a bit of humor today. Der_Echte and UpSideDownMe provided the humor.

Guys, I provide you this exceptional match, attack vs. defense..
Often we discussed if a low ranked player can beat higher ranked player, if the better player is a defender and the low ranked is just good against it.
Well, here you have it :)
Played yesterday - and I have to say - Happek in the last meeting with Chtchetinine, was 2:0 up and leading 5:0 in the third set.. still managing to lose it.. I wonder what was in his mind in the fifht here, lol :)

Trained with my dad today. 2nd session of the week.

A ton of stuff that I worked on half a year ago are falling into place now. I haven't taken video to confirm, but I think my strokes are now more or less where I wanted them: but even better! Swinging is so relaxed when you learn not to tense the antagonist muscles and just let the body turn and legs do the work. I was really trying too hard before, and I was flexing the wrong muscles at the wrong time.

My body's condition is at the point where I can play normally with no pain or anything, but I still have to take it very easy for safety. I think this has helped my form a lot: I am more conscious of when I am flexing my muscles in a bad way, or rotating something in a bad way.

Why didn't you seal your toenails at the same time using the paper towel ?

I heard Woodchucks do it.

Very cool! I know Sven personally :)

That match point at 43:19 was unbelievable. Both players totally exhausted. Could have gone either way.

So i had a day free and i decided to spend it in training. In the morning i trained with my coach, did everything - forehands,backhands,blocks,exersices,servers,receives.. trained for like 1:30-2:00 hours then i went for lunch and rested. After that my partner came, he said he is tired, so i was like... Just block. I even have a short clip, it was a while since i recordet myself.

I have decided to take on a new project - to learn to push any half-long or short serve with any spin short or half-long short and in either case, low. Yes, even topspin serves. I think being able to do this will help my game a lot as it is an advanced skill and it is less physical than flicking all the time. The precision required will take a lot of practice and possibly match losses but I will just do it.

Had a nice game, while waiting for a movie in a shop/restaurant in Shibuya. Manager was really nice and let me try different blades.
I played with him for around 15 minutes. The record speed was 175km/h...I think everyone can agree it was a mistake :D.
Here is match with another customer (my magical reverse pendelum works even against pimples):
