Oh there's a lot more than just that to fix lol, it's just really hard to fix more than one thing at a time. That one is just focusing on moving with both feet to get to the ball. I had another session today, and the focus was more on the arm/wrist movement. I'm trying to keep the elbow a bit lower, and cock my wrist back a bit more during the backswing but not snap it forward too much during the forward swing.

The multiball session was especially exhausting, the most exhausted I've been doing any sport in a long time. It's kind of odd because my HR was only peaked in the 170's, but it felt much more exhausting than playing soccer when my HR is sometimes over 180 for 4-5 minutes at a time and peak in the low 190's.
That's because with soccer, you're (mainly) playing with your lower body. Because the blood needs to pump oxygen *everywhere*, playing TT on the same heart rate feels more intense.

Yeahhh I'm not a Hurricane player. As good as it is, and as much as the Provincial quality is better than the commercial, I don't have the basics for it.
It worked when I played people well below me, but as soon as someone actually challenged me and I was late for the ball, I couldn't make it work. The off balance shots are just so weak, or at least when I do it.
I'll put it on one of the blades I want to sell.

Please DM me if you have any all wood blades without Hurricane you want to sell?

Yeah, and it's mentally taxing too when you're trying to incorporate the learnings of the day into a faster paced setting. Yesterday on the FH side I was working on reducing an upward rotation when I kick my leg. To compensate for that I would then need to go up a bit more with my arm. The upward kick was preventing me from smoothly transitioning to the BH as I would need to bring my center of gravity back down after the shot. For the BH I mentioned already changing the wrist a bit. Then for multiball I try to put it all together, with the addition of small adjustments in my feet for FH and BH shots.

Here's a clip of my last multiball set. Truly exhausting!

Yeah, I'm trying to incorporate better footwork into my BH as well. Focusing on side-to-side right now against topspins with my coach, and when practicing against the robot I'm focusing more on in-and-out against backspins.

For topspins, my coach noted that you should try to avoid the wide step outward if possible, as once your legs spread too wide it's harder to move quickly laterally, and if a rally is fast you might not have the time to narrow them down again. You can see in the video you posted that Fang stepped out only for really wide shots, and he noted that the right leg must follow, which would keep the stance narrower than if you just stepped out with the left foot.

This is some of my work during the last coaching session:

Yeah, I agree with that. When training, what I found that works for me is a push from the right leg, block the ball with the left, then drag the right leg in one motion, like a sideways slide if that makes sense. Going BH to wide BH gives me more options on resetting back to BH or taking a pivot FH.

@NextLevel I agree. My peaks are way higher on the H3 on backhand, but the lows are rock bottom as soon as I get tired. Hybrid is almost the same way as well for me, but I can stay in the rally longer.

Just try Tenergy 19 on both sides or something like that. Plays well, lasts long, and lets you hit all the shots with practice. If too fast (unlikely IMHO, but it is an individual choice), just try an all wood blade like Szocs Signature 1 for a bit.

Another Sunrise SPINDEX Challenge night in the books... 19 players total, 3 groups (7,6,6). A lot of fun!

Already have the next one planned with more expected. Definitely recommend any clubs out there to check out the SPINDEX rating system (and partner up with MLTT if you haven't already).

I have thrown away my H3 commercials and the rogue sheet of Dianchi D and I'm reglueing everything I deem usable with Eurojaps right now.
My Korbel Japan already has G1/C1, and so will the innerforce ALC. And my old Appelgren is getting some written off sheets of C1 and Rakza 7 that I had to boost to uncurl
I still have the provincial sheet, that's going on my experimental bat just so it has a rubber. I'm kind of curious how that one plays with it, too, but not curious enough to let that be any priority anywhere soon. Season starts in a few days and I don't feel ready at all. Luckily I'm unable to play the first match anyway so I have a little more time to train.

Yea, my coach also emphasizes to me the need to push off the right leg instead of just reaching out with my left leg and body.

I like to use the mental image of speed skating, also great to use those movements as a warmup both for the legs and for the bent posture.

I have been watching my matches from the Teams tournament ans while I again unfortunately had a bad camera that lost a lot of footage, I have been disgusted with my footwork. The core issue is simply being overweight, if I can address that then while I may or may not play better, I would disgust myself far less on video. That must count for something.

You can, absolutely! Don't doubt yourself.

I am going really slowly back from 85+ kg towards 80-, and ideally around 75.

Dropped most of the evening snacks, which is a great start, but I want to improve my aerobic condition too so running is on the wishlist.

Honestly TT is the only thing keeping me from tipping the scales from overweight to obese, but I feel the same about my weight affecting footwork—and my knees. I'm sure it doesn't help that my club has a hardwood gym floor instead of that nice PVC/rubber but I went from having 0 knee problems two years ago to sometimes having trouble using the stairs in my house after a particularly intense session. (Who's the lunatic that invented stairs anyway? Hate that guy.) I'm doing physical therapy now and hopefully once I rebuild the foundation so to speak I can start some more serious strength and agility training and solve both problems. Worst case I'll give up and get bionic knees 🦿—you won't take table tennis from me!

this is @Der_Echte 's friend, Greg, a different level of player. I played the match to have fun, didn't really seriously try to win, there were more serious matches coming up in the day. For those who care, I used the HAL blade in this match.
