I feel they are the same. I’ve tried both before extensively now. The hardness feels similar if ever so slightly 8-80 softer. But you are defo a better player than me and used to harder rubbers, considering you use the H3 hardness i use on my FH for ur BH!
Which hardness will you put on your BH for the h8-80? Also, which booster are you using on the 80 sponge? Does not react well the Haifu Nat booster, nor seamoon.

I have a similar blade (golden HL5). Currently I play with rakza z on BH. I used to play with commercial h8-80 in 37. I tried 38, but felt considerably harder than 37. I tried RZ coz I felt the H8-80 lack in the game after the 3rd ball, I mean it is harder to be consistent. I am better in that area with RZ, better blocking, better control. But too hard, I need to engage to much to open up, if I brush the ball only like I am used to with H8, the ball just goes into the net. It feels like the rubber does need to goes into the sponge to work and create throw angle.
I gain everywhere with Rakza Z, but I lose a lot in open up. You could think, oh keep the Rakza and improve. But I tend to focus more on the first 3 ball in my game now. I realised I tried too much to do like FZD, sending it both wings and attack every ball. Instead, now, I am focusing more on the first 3 ball quality, and less in longer rally. I am able to compete to higher level like that. So in that sense, I want a softer rubber to be able to open more easily. The role of my BH, is to open up with massive spin, to receive an easy ball to finish with my FH. Kinda like Ma Long. His BH, is more controlled and less aggressive than FZD or ZJK. But uses it to create a good ball for his insane FH.
I can go for H3 37, and claim that I play with Ma Long's setup haha. I also use H3 nat BS. Currently 40deg, but thinking about going to 41. The Haifu booster I have is really powerful.

I use 37 degree 8-80 provincial, and I use purple FLM booster, but also may try my friends black FLM booster

Ma Long used 38/38.5 deg H3N during the final years of his career, not 37 deg, just FYI. 37 deg H3 is too soft, IMHO.

I don't know FLM. How long it last ?
Decently long. I’d say its effects start to truly diminish after a month or so and my current H3 boosted still feels good and it’s been 2 months or so

I am not sure. WCQ and FZD use 38 deg, and they use more power on BH than Ma Long. And from my research he used 37. Last info I got are Star H3 (maybe more of a commercial national H3 than the one used by the pro), says 37deg for Ma Long's BH. Also the Tokyo rubber on Ma Long's BH was 37. Maybe since then he did change, but with ages and the physics becoming slower, it makes more sense to go softer.

The pros are using harder and harder rubbers with today game, actually. I wouldn't trust DHS with their star version rubbers, as they never update the specs ever since their release.

Another ML's 38.5 deg H3

Sun Yingsha's H3, from the same tournament. She even used 36deg H3 before.

Edit: Found WCQ's H3 from the same batch

Thanks. I find the 37, already hard. But damn, the pros are really good to use 38.5 in BH

Hello all! I just received one of my H8-20s, the one I got off of PROTT that looked like this in this thread, but the sponge doesn't look like the orange shown. Did they just give me a regular H8 or is this how it usually looks?

Urs looks like 8-80, unless the lighting is off

This is how it looks compare to my H3 BS right now. It's got a red sponge and the one I clicked on had an orange sponge so I feel like they gave me the wrong one?View attachment 39862
then yes they gave you the wrong one. You got 8-80 provincial not 8-20. 8-80 is quite good, but if you want you can email Prott and tell him he sent you the wrong one

Thank you for the help. Just emailed them so hopefully they send me a free one 😛 But I did order another H8-20 and it's still not here so I'm hoping they don't send the wrong one again.
