i did boost rxton 3 pro today with one tiny layer. i know that the rubber is already relatively soft but i thought if the topsheet gets a little stretch then it might play a bit like a normal tensor rubber.

i also ordered rxton 9 in 39 and donic bluegrip c-2. do you think the hardness will differ much between those? also thought about xiom c55 but it is not so easy availabe right now

But do you measure twice? Like sponge side and topsheet side? I think manufacturers just measure the sponge and that is the reason why some rubber feel harder as their claimed hardness like G-1 and Tibhar Aurus and some rubbers feel softer like Thibar MK and Hexer Powergrip. From my testing i noticed that really elastic sponges or topsheets feel also softer like some of the Tibhar Evolution series or Andro Rasanter even though their sponge and topsheet is on the harder side.

I did now boost the rxton 3pro with one layer on the glue and did let it dry for 24 hours and played it today. so much better and more control because the softness and tension now helps with more forgiveness and control on topspin play even though the grip feel even worse now. but this is what i notice anyway for my kind of strokes that when i have rubbers that are not that grippy then they must be a bit softer and elastic like rakza 7 or something in that ballpark. but when they are supper grippy (or tacky) then they can have a denser and harder sponge and i get the control over the feedback trough the grip and the stable ball curve. i can trust the rubber more to produce the trajectory that i need. i still don‘t know what will be the difficultys i will have when playing with a hard rubber like bluegrip c-2, dignics09c, xiom c55 or even rxton 9 beside having a rather slow ball when i don‘t commit. i still will have an amazing spin even though it is slow. so i need to test something like this for longer in actual gameplay with different kind of players. what are your thoughts on that?

I only measure the sponge. The rubber being harder that the sponge, when you measure the rubber, the sponge has more influence than the other way around.

why is that?
Excellent question.
On previous post you wanted to soften the sponge and tighten the top rubber to make R3pro more like a tensor by application of booster. But now you claim to have more control.
My personal experience is the opposite.
Less control.

So, what have you actually got ? softer sponge or harder top rubber , or both AND more control ????
Is this you feeling or is there hard data ????
I am not being cynical, just confused 😂

for me and my game play (or stroke i have) i need either a grippy/tacky hard rubber that i can control the trajectory of and can pressure with spin or a more softer elastic rubber where the ball sinks in more and get easy speed. there is also a certain dwell that i feel either by a tacky topsheet or and elastic sponge that gives me a good feedback of what i do and that give me the feel of control. but everyone is different and has a different game strategy and stroke mechanics so if that doesn't fit your understanding of control, i would never doubt that!

what i said about the topsheet was different topic about that measurment of sponges and has nothing to do with my search for a new forehand rubber

is there a way to scientifically measure rubber performances and effects without going total overboard?

so i received the sheet of rxton 9 pro 39° and a sheet of bluegrip c2. i think i will decide between the two what i keep on playing on my forehand. the Rxton 9 i got for 20€ and Bluegrip is 40€. i am still playing with rxton 3 pro and it is nice and cheap but not dangerous enough in spin department, maybe due to my faulty sheet that is not sticky at all. but since boosting at least the speed is enough to win with placement.

what i heard is that Bluegrip should last 2-3 months (not that long) but doesn't need to be boosted. it has a thick topsheet and small pimples kind of like my vega pro H but at least a bit sticky. it has a tiny porous sponge kinda like modern chinese rubbers.

rxton 9 pro has a thin topsheet and small pimples and a more porous sponge then the bluegrip (something i didn't expected actually) but it looks a lot more thinner overall. it seems factory boosted but kinda more like an 1,9mm rubber right now. how long would it last with the factory boosting? 2 months?

what do you think: should i boost it with one layer right away? i heard people do this with hurricane 3 neo that is also factory boosted but still put on at least one layer.

R9 reacts really well to booster, i did just 1 thin Layer on a new sheet and it keeps going strong so far.

thanks a lot! then i will try it with a thin layer. the sponge already feels really soft an nothing like the rxton pink that i bought for a friend even though they have the same hardness on the sheet

Just stick to Vega Pro H. It's not bad of a rubber and you don't have to bother with the whole boosting hassle.
yes it is a good rubber indeed and i highly recommend it but just has not enough power for forehand for me. it feels like a gap where the rubber just not support the stroke anymore. i felt the same with hybrid mk, but this had also not enough spin.

vega asia H with a harder sponge has a different topsheet and plays different and so i just wanna try some things while i have a break till my season starts.

c2 already played so good when i tried it in the shop and now i wanna see how rxton 9 feels. if everything is not good then i shure just go back to vega pro h

I see. Well, R9 is good. It's comparable to H3, you don't even need to boost it because it's powerful already even without boosting.
