dignics 05 vs. 09c.

So I am using dignics 05 for the first time and im used to 09c normally.

Question: Is it me or is 05 more spin sensitive from opponents shots than the 09c?

Or maybe im confusing its increased bounce with just a bit harder to control the opponents spins?
D09 is sticky while D05 is not. I don't think there is a difference in sensitiveness to spin. Just D09c has less rebound.

D05 just shoots out much longer hence harder to control than 09C on passive block.

D05 has a softer sponge. This makes it more sensitive to incoming spin, because the incoming ball will sink into the soft sponge more than it sinks into a hard sponge.
Now you say that I agree.... softer sponge. I can feel it.
Im wondering..... your profile says table tennis is like martial arts. I love that quote as I feel exactly the same. I have done elite level shotokan competitions as a former national champion. The way we move and legwork etc. is VERY similar.

well this is interesting. I was just watching a video of Zhang Jike saying that D05 and D09C have the same sponge just different rubbers. Do you remember which thickness you have for each of yoru dignic rubbers?

He was wrong. D09c is definitely harder, even if the Dignics sponge is common to both.

both are 2.1mm which as far as I know is the thickest you can get of these 2.
09c feels harder somehow.

D09c is harder, 44 degrees on the Butterfly scale compared to 40 degrees of the D05. I think he just meant it's both the Spring X sponge.

where can i see the numbers of degree hardness? It's all interesting to me. i'm not an EJ at all. Ive only ever used 2 different forehand rubbers in the three years I played this sport. First tenergy 05. Now DHS H3N. I guess you could say I updated from a commercial OS to a prov OS...which is also a degree harder than the commercial. But very little experimenting on my part.

I do know that if you can generate force and power, the harder rubber will be both faster and more spin than a softer rubber based on physics alone.

It's on the Butterfly website, this for example:

ahh yes. Seems like the D09C is truly a unique rubber :D It's been working well for me on my backhand, but i have been curious if there might be a better backhand rubber for me. I was even thinking of that DHS H3N soft 37d or something.

I think the H3 37 works better on the W968, though admittedly I haven't tried the Vis + H3 37 combo. I feel that H3 37 is an acquired taste, it really felt terrible when I first tried it. The feeling is so muted, it's like unboosted harder H3 except so, so much worse. And that's after boosting. I only became convinced to use it after experiencing it on the other end, finding out how difficult it is to attack a shot by the H3 due to the always surprising amount of spin. Now I'm used to it and it's fine, but whenever I use my Vis/D09c again I'm reminded of how much easier and better feeling the Butterfly combo is.
