Dignics 09C

Hi there, I have been playing with Dignics 09C max on my FH for 6 months and although I really enjoy the rubber I would just like a little more control on my loops. I was thinking of going to Dignics 09C 1.9mm instead of the max or trying Glayzer 09C max. I would just like a slightly higher throw. I find slow looping serves back a little more difficult than some other rubbers I have tried.

There are few choices:

1) D09c 1.9mm is a fine idea.

2) If you want more control, then a well boosted provincial blue sponge 39 degree Hurricane 3 is the logical choice. The throw angle will be lower than D09c though. Hurricane is like an acquired taste. Either you love it or you hate it. If you want something a bit cheaper, then Loki Rxton 9 blue sponge is a fine choice too!

3) D09c throw angle is pretty high already. The only one that pops into my head is Yasaka Rakza Z. Rakza Z has very tacky top sheet. The throw angle is very high. Rakza Z will be slower than D09c which might give you more control.

4) Do not get Glayzer 09c. I think there are people who love the Glayzer series on the forum but there are also a lot of people (including me) who just don't like the Glayzer series. I think for the price that Butterfly charges for Glayzer series, there are a lot better and cheaper alternative Chinese (i.e. Hurricane) or ESN (i.e. Rakza Z) options.

I have tried Rakza Z and it is the easiest rubber I have used to loop with, however with the 09C I just seem to give my opponents a more difficult ball to handle. I have tried Hurricane 3 in 37 & 39 but still find I play my best with the Rakza Z and 09C. I have tried the Rakza Z in 2.00mm and max and in all honesty I probably find the 2.00 really easy to play with. Maybe I should add Rakza Z hard into the mix.

Yes you can add Rakza Z hard to your list.

To be honest, I am not impressed by most ESN offering of "hybrid" rubber. Most of them (K3 included) are barely slightly tacky.

The only non-chinese rubbers on the market that I have tried, that rival Hurricane 3, in terms of topsheet's tackiness, are D09c and Rakza Z.

If you like D09c, don't try too many other rubbers. It is very unique.

Just like H3 blue sponge is quite unique. Other companies might have tried to imitate DHS' blue sponge but they have mostly failed.

I like to loop/topspin serves to my forehand and I just find the Rakza Z easier than any other rubber I have used, which is obviously due to the tacky top sheet , high throw and the slower speed. I would have tried the thinner 09C already if it wasn't so expensive and I don't know anyone with 1.9 that I could try.

Battle 3 38 or 39 degrees. I personally find 38 is closer to 09c but the difference is not high.

I'm assuming there are not a lot of people using Glayzer 09C ?
I guess not many players use it as I have not seen many in the club I play as well. But I use the Glayzer 09C and am pretty happy with it generally for my level of intermediate play for the Forehand. Just to spice up things, I play it boosted with 1 layer of booster, and I feel at this level, I do not need anything more as you can just about do anything and it is plenty grippy, spinny and fast enough for all kinds of shots. I play it on a commercial WCQ blade and the combo is just perfect. I can even hit killer shots with it.

isn't boosting the Butterfly rubbers a bid double no no? that's at least what I read when I was researching boosting the rubbers a bit ... and everyone said not to bust Butterfly rubbers as it kills them and shortens durability ...

How did you find it compared to Dignics 09C ?

I completely disagree with that. Who is "everyone"? There are even videos on Youtube about how to boost D9C. I do it myself (1 layer Tempo Long). For 6-8 months, training 3x a week for 2 hours - everything is great.

ha, yeah, busted here ... "everyone" is a bit wild ... but I did read like a blog post about boosting, and also one of the many booster reviews, that Dignics9c either doesn't even react or it gets damaged by boosters. but it is true I was reading about Haifu and Kailin. which are also not suitable for ESN rubbers (as per same articles and reviews) and opted for Tempo Long, which up until today, works nicely with ESN rubbers and also chinese ones (albeit some of the ESN rubbers are now extremly wild :D )

I personally would not boost any of the rubbers including D09c when you first open the package. I think Butterfly does a pretty good job boosting its Tenergy and Dignics sponge at the factory.

Once the rubbers are worn, I have tried boosting it to prolong the life of the rubber.

Most high level players boost their 09c at least lightly and it responds perfectly well to all boosters. Whatever websites told you that it "kills" them is a website you should ignore. Of course it will somewhat shorten the durability just as booster does for any rubber in the world.

In fact, with Tempo Long, using one layer, the visual effect is barely visible (if you compare it to Chinese rubbers, which "curl" a lot). However, in the game, the booster effect is still felt. I play for about 2 months and then I re-apply the rubber. So 3x booster (for approximately 6-7 months) of rubber is really enough and it does not affect the sponge in any way.
