Hi everyone, I recently started to practice chop blocks (I am a very aggressive player and rarely used any kind of blocks so far). I know that most coaching videos focus on short or sometimes half long slow spinny chop blocks, but what's wrong with fast chop blocks, adding a forward movement or even a small punch to the sideways and downwards chop block motion? Is this still a chop block actually? Otherwise I have to edit the topic :).

Still a chop block but, aiming longer on the table is more risky than aiming short. The aim of chop blocking is generally to try and throw the opponent off rhythm with a floaty/sinking trajectory and/or seeing if they make a mistake reading/receiving the spin

Do you think a long fast chop block with sidespin is easier or more difficult to receive than a short or a half long one with sidespin? Or both easy if not unexpected? Maybe depends on the level.
How long is a string of rope?

Snap chop block is a bloody difficult thing to do in a match. I'm trying to practice the truls type shot in practice on my BH LPs both randomly and in multiball lately and it's super fun but still haven't done one in a match. Devastating technique so I want to get it but dang. Not able to make it my tool just yet.
Long or short has not yet entered the chat. I just try to land it.

Yes. I add a touch of chop to my FH long block at willl. It is a nice technique that makes people wonder why they miss. No reason you can't experiment and use it freely.

I have a match today and will try it with the backhand. I think you just need some courage. In the worst case you lose a point ;-) .
Unfortunately I had to play against pips/anti and could not test it. I the training I tried fast chop blocks (with the backhand) against topspins with a lot of rotation and it worked well. Not sure why it is considered as difficult.

Honestly think FH is easier.
Chop blocks/fast chop blocks easier with FH? :-O
