Hi,

I've been looking at how Felix Lebrun plays recently, and I can't help but notice that he has one of the best (if not, the best) serve variations of top players right now, while also being more deceptive than his own brother who has comparably as much variation as him. In terms of service, I think you can make the case that he has the best LEGAL service in the world right now (considering the likes of Wang Chuqin, Noshad Alamiyan, etc.).

As a penholder, I want to study him and apply his techniques to my own game. So, I have two questions:

1. How many service types does he have?
2. Why does his service stance look like that?

As for me, I reckon he has the pendulum, reverse pendulum, hook, reverse side hook, and TPB serves. My theory as to why he serves like that is due to having the reverse side hook serve. This makes it easier for him to put his thumb to press the backhand side to open the angle for that serve, while also making it unpredictable from his stance how he is going to serve. All he needs to do is make that movement last minute, whether to put the thumb on the forehand side or the backhand side to accommodate the serve he is executing.

What do you guys think?
