General opinions on the jpen yinhe blades.

Personally I use a Yinhe 988 penhold blade with Tacky Chinese rubber for forehand and long pimps on the backhand, (for the rarely used RPB). I find this bat very fast and is quite effective when doing a backhand smash, with the tacky chinese rubber making quite a nice arc. However, it really isn't the best bat when playing short game and it doesn't have that kind of crisp feeling of some other bats, especially compared to my dad's old jpen butterfly black 900, made with 1 ply hinoki. It feels a little dead, but it really is quite a good bat for playing offensive slightly nearer to the left of the table and about half an arms length from the table edge. There it shines, and you can see the speed. Plus, this is a VERY good serving bat, when you let loose your grip and almost like just fully supported by your index finger, it has that kind of hinge effect very useful for heavy underpin and even more, a pendulum serve.

Last of all, I need to talk about the price. I bought mine at 49% discount on lazada for 32 SGD. So it's quite a budget friendly bat too.

I would like to hear more people's opinion on Yinhe bats, especially the jpen bats.

Thank you 😊

I used to want to get a 982 after my 988, for the hinoki, but I found the miyabi so it's done. I have to say though that the yinhe 988 is ridiculously fast, and it is faster than my current miyabi. But, after switching to the miyabi, I found it's sweet spot very small. But when you hit a good forehand it's very low and fast, speed kill. Because it has carbon in the blade it certainly is faster, but lacks feeling of the miyabi. I found it more confident for me to use the miyabi for forehand loops and drives, which it excels better. I guess what you pay is what you get them.

Miyabi should work then. Good job :D

I glued and played with 986 first time today and I must say that I'm impressed with the quality and playability. Similarly to heheboi, I glued cheap chineese rubbers: 729 cross violet on FH and reactor corbor on BH, just for testing and it played wonderful... It played so much better that my current setup: uranus u2 that I'm thinking to play more with the setup.

Isn’t the 986 and U2 completely different compositions?

yeah, 986 is carbon blade and you can feel it when hiting harder. I need to check if I preffer carbon with cpen also. I think it was Zhan Jike on the podcast saying that kids today should start with inner carbon, then switch to outer. That could be right for me, even tho I'm far from being a kid.
