I'm currently using Stiga Mantra M (non Pro), since it's coming from the same company in japan (Daiki), is it somehow similar to Z2?
I played with Mantra before and I like to remember it was harder, but like JBH7 suggests the topsheet must be included in the equation. But I can almost guarantee that the Z2 will at least feel softer.

Cheers

The sponge hardness rating of a sandwich inverted rubber only applies to the sponge part. The top sheet may have a different "hardness" which will affect the overall feel of hardness of the rubber. If you can separate the topsheet and just squeeze the sponge or better yet put a hardness tester on it, that will give you the actual sponge hardness.

Anyone still playing with this rubber ? Seems like most of the guy who were praising this rubbers changed for something else
Stiga Mantra Pro H, made by the same company is available on aliexpress for quite a bit cheaper and is in some ways more linear and predictable than the Hammond Z2.

Tried it and didn't like it. Fast and snappy feeling rubber but felt to me as though the topsheet didn't really grip the ball unless I was very aggressive.

Agree that it is a little harder to use than for instance Dignics 05, that behaves very similar, in the offensive game. But it is so forgiving when receiving serves and when out of position.

I have only recently started using Hammond Z2. I have been using MX-D, but the performance drop off is a bit annoying, so I'm looking for something without "tensor" feel to start with. I am primarily using it on FH, with LP on the BH, on a custom blade from SDC, which emulates a Matsushita MPS. I occasionally will loop a forehand, but primarily I hit FH drives, which is actually most of my game. I have no problem adjusting to the Hammond, and am just playing out the season to test durability. At the moment, I am doing well with it. It's not the greatest rubber, but I am trying to avoid buying BTY, although I like D09C and T05H, and have those on MPM blades. I'm in my 70s, so have no great ambition to be the best in my league.

It is also relatively light and has ok durability and price.

The Mantra H is not available in anything other than max sponge thickness so it is not an alternative for many players.

exactly - I also felt same, topsheet is different and does not sink in like T05 which does not give confidence in match situations while opening up.

I m so used T05, feel and predictability , that did not liked Z2 and moved on from it after a month.

I agree on this. Z2 i harder and open ups are more demanding (like Dignics) I have chosen the benefits of Z2 over the benefits of Tenergies but play with the thought of using Z2 forehand and Tenergy backhand and twiddle when receiving serves for next season.

I've had a few sessions with Z2 Special Edition, sponge is 5 degrees softer than regular Z2, available in max thickness only though. Reminds me a lot of a softer dignics 80, really nice BH option for me, was surprised at how good it was.
