Many of your lost points can be fixed by opening up with aggression earlier, then finishing with placement. You have strong loops and control. They are just in the wrong order.A little more than 2,5 years now. Relatively new.
I see. So trying to put pressure with attacks (just enough), then play placement to get them out of position, and last power? Thats my strat. I open up with loads of spin and power deep. Then I hit a counter to the other side. The second can either be fast and flat, or slow and wide angled. Or fast and wide angled if you are really lucky. Loads of times, they don't even get the first loop back if it's well placed.I see. Interesting, at this level (2100-2200 TTR, maybe around 2300-2400USTTR), they for sure will get the first loop back. Though the early agression might be a good idea.Thats my strat. Yes, I am around 1900 US rating system. You are prob higher. My attack works around my level but also, I will say, surprises lots of high level players, giving me the advantage in the first set.Interesting, at this level (2100-2200 TTR, maybe around 2300-2400USTTR), they for sure will get the first loop back. Well thank you for the feedback. Much appreciatedYes, I am around 1900 US rating system. You are prob higher. My attack works around my level but also, I will say, surprises lots of high level players, giving me the advantage in the first set.
You're right. Though this was intentional, since i wasn't comfortable at short table play on that day. And the only way i could keep up with these stronger players was in the rally. I will keep this in mind on my next training sessions and matchesAll of your serves is saw were long. Opponent was able to stay a comfortable distance on return
I thought maybe you were trying to just start the rally. Still, an occasional change up looked like it would keep him from anticipating the attack so wellYou're right. Yes rallying is easier for me, i don't like it when they flip close to the table eg banana and forehand flick. Feels like i have too little time. Though i understand serving long everytime might be an exaggeration of the ideaI thought maybe you were trying to just start the rally. Great compliments haha. Thank you so much. I've noticed the tendancy to block a lot (notably because it's winning points), i've been trying to do that less these past couple of games and it's working great. Though it is against a bit weaker opponents (1700-1900 TTR). Forehand attack has become much more frequent and with high consistency. I mean not trying to hit winners on 1st or 2nd forehand. I've made sure to put my right foot more backwards, so i can hit the ball a bit later in the forehand area without it being a problem. Since i used to sometimes cover the forehand side with backhand. Services have also improved due to more service practice. You are doing great for 2,5 years!
A few pointers from me, maybe already covered by others:
Keep up the good work!
- You are very fast. Take more advantage of that to get into position to hit your stronger shots. Your forehand is much stronger than your backhand so you should set it up more often. You have a tendency to want to hit backhand most of the time.
- Even though your FH is stronger than your BH, you have a very good passive BH block. It wins you many points. How ever, you should not give away initiative and let opponent attack, just because you are comfortable blocking.
- Your serves seems to be quite spinny. One things to practice though could be to hit a little bit later/lower, so that the serve doesn't bounce as high over the net.
