Hurricane Neo 3 quality control

Hurricane oxidizing is insane. Just so bad especially new ones. My H3N from a year ago looks newer than my new one that’s 1 month old. At this point I might have to switch every 2 weeks.

I think 729 sheets have it even worse tbh. They look oxidized straight out of the box

I've been going back and forth between two sheets of H3 Neo, both 39 degrees commercial ones.

The first sheet I bought as 2.1mm in June, the second one I bought as 2.15mm in November.
I've boosted and reboosted both sheets a few times.

The older 2.1mm sheet seems to react better to booster. The sponge has softened up more and it plays more dynamically. It feels much closer to the 37 degrees version sponge wise but hasn't lost the bite of the harder topsheet.
The newer, 2.15mm sheet just doesn't seem to want to soften up. It doesn't want to turn into that dynamic, boosted rubber feeling.

Am I imagining things? Or is this something that just happens with the commercial sheets? Or, is this because the booster (Regular Haifu, which I also bought in June) has lost so much effectiveness in 5-6 months that it can't break the sponge of the second sheet anymore?

I mean, the experience with this second sheet has been making me doubt staying on the H3 train altogether... But the first sheet still feels really good even at its current age.

I tend to say "yes". It is known that there is more variation in the properties of commercial H3Ns.

with my commerical h3 and brand new regular seamon, i was not able to get the rubber to re-curl on the second boosting. the whole rubber expanded a bit, enough to where i had to recut the rubber once it was on the paddle because it was going too far over the edge, but there was no recurling effect on the rubber. the roobosted rubber did play better though. but it did not last more than 4-5 weeks before it became too "mushy" to play.

Similarly, i just reboosted 2 of my prov OS that were previously boosted with regular seamoon, but this time i boosted with national yellow haifu. same thing...no recurling effect. rubber did expand. and now the rubbers are playing like the best H3N ive had so far. in my opinion, if you're serious about playing with Hurricane, its worth it to have the provincial version and to use national haifu.

My guess is the curling is only the first time because the rapid expansion is tensioning the topsheet like a balloon that's inflated for the first time.
Once it's tensioned for the first time, subsequent tensioning is easier. Also, the sponge doesn't fully contract either when the effects wear out.
