I feel that Dignics 05 is extremely overrated. Is it just me?

How are you getting on with D09c on BH?
Has it worked out or your back with D05 again?

I'm still with it!

Depending on level and your general shot mechanics on the backhand, there really isn't much to get used to.

My issue is that I WANT to play aggressive, loopy topspins and counters - 09C is perfect for that.

I still have a habit of punching and going too "flat" at times - 05 is better for this.

But really, it's negligible, and there are trade offs for both.

My touch, spin, serve, block and counter are all better with 09C.

You just can't be lazy with it, because if you are back from the table, you need to give it a little more oomph to get a decent shot back.

I was interested because I have 09c as my fh rubber (D80 on BACK) and have tried it on the BH also.
Im not sure if I could ever make it work, I think it's just too hard sponge for my bh but I've come to the same conclusion as you, cannot be lazy with it and particularly back from the table I've noticed my bh loop not strong enough. It does really need that swing speed all the time. The D80 is just soft enough but I had T19 before and it's so much easier. I didn't realise how the SS was covering things.
I'm guessing then that you're a two wing looper. You must have a strong BH loop and athleticism/footwork that makes it work.

It's highlighted my need to add more body and hips here but Im finding it more difficult to implement than on the fh side.
Anyway, thanks for your reply. Plenty to work on during the summer off season!

If you are not super confident with your BH loop, then yeah you made a good choice, 09c is just not for blockers or those who are too used to soft rubbers like ur D80 and T19. D80 is a great rubber but I feel has less spin and a low arc which I don't like personally, but if you like blocking then its good.

One area I personally did not like 09c for is the high arc. If you want something like 09c but is better to block with and has a slightly lower arc but higher than D80 and D05, then Andro's N55 is really good for me so far. It has a softer feel than 55 ESN and definitely more soft than 09c. I think there's more spin personally than the latter two rubbers and less than the former, and blocking is vice versa. N55 is a perfect in between rubber. Its worth trying out if you are willing to shift away from BTY

If I'm honest, there really isn't much obvious difference switching to D09C.

On attacking shots, the arc is a little higher, which I do like.

But I beat a guy for the first time ever last night, who attacks *everything* - I did it by blocking very well, and I find the extra control of D09C just allows more room for error in those matches.

I think I'll stick with Butterfly for now anyway, am really hoping for good longevity on these but at next change I'll keep it in mind. Have always been tempted by Andro, a few lads I know are using Rasanter 42/47 and love them!

For me the problems have come when trying to add real power so it looks like this video from LMTLS has come at just the right time!

Anything that helps is always good - I’ve usually got to adapt slightly because most videos are from “normal” height players, and it often doesn’t translate perfectly when you are taller/bigger.

But I think the content available now is so good for people who don’t have access to a good coach!

I love d80 on bh. Flicks are fast and nasty. It's. It's not as bouncy as t-05 with a grippier top sheet. It's good on serves and is pretty light.
Its an overlooked rubber, cuz not many people liked t-80, so it's sort of type cast, I think. Only you will know what you like, but, in my mind, it's worth a test at least. It's expensive, but has good durability.

I played D80 on FH a long time ago and it was great. Probably my favourite soft tensor for forehand. I like it much more than D05, though it is deffinetely a great rubber, i just can't play with it on neither of the wings.

For BH i like to have variety in the stoke, with D05 you need to play into the ball all the time, and i had a lot of problems with slow no spin balls, with 09c I can easily return them.

For forehand D05 has too high of an arc, it feels unstable from mid distance. If i was playing tensors on forehand i would go for D80 or even D64, but i have not tried it so can't say for sure.

So i agree, D80 is really underrated.
