Only solution is to bring back the heavy hitters like Ma Long and Fan Zhendong to secure the titles while training the youngsters (LSD, Xiang Peng, Huang Youzheng) even harder!

it will be delusional to say there is nothing wrong with CNT
2 or 3 wins, tieba users like zeio goes on celebration and 1 bad loss happens, then it was cnt player/s handing the match to opponent.

I have been following CNT since I was a kid, they have never been so frail ever.

The days of 2 Wangs and 1 Ma, even loosing 1 game, was considered a big wow, now the top 3 of China have loss so many times in the past 6 months.

They need to bring back Ma Long, FZD, and even ZJK

Ma Lin has also had many stressful photos going on in the internet
some users even compared how quickly they have ages (both WH and ML)

today's problem is from 10 years ago.
WH is just in the wrong place at the wrong time.
I don't even think LGL can fix this problem and he is considered one of the best brains ever.

My friends from the Chinese circle has said, the CNT C team is working well and in another 5 to 10 years, CNT should see the result of the C team, which seems positive.
My opinion is - it could be too late,

CNT had the first rocky year ever since the Swedes passed over the reign decades ago.
They had been some solo warriors challenging the 3 decade CNT champions, some upsets by Chinese players moving overseas etc.
the threat was only a handful at most and could be tamed by even the no 5 player in the team.

Today, nearly everyone in the top 50 can challenge a top CNT player.
The Olympics was probably the start of the fall
ATTC saw how CNT couldn't handle the pressure + workload and now the 2nd last Champion of the year.

Rumors of FZD retiring (who will retire first - Ma Long of FZD??)
Ma Long retiring too
WCQ become just like the unstable LGY
LJK the reliable 2nd string leader loosing more and more and he isn't getting younger too....
the list goes on and the women's team isn't any better.
and there isn't good juniors coming through....

There will be one more Champion in a months time, it is probably not enough time to do anything, but if you are the CNT boss, what would you do for 2025?
surely if things continue as is, it will only go in one direction.

so it is exactly 6 months ago I started this thread and my, who would have thought so much would happen, so many "breaking news" during this time.

facts:

• FZD, Ma Long, Chen Meng leaving without retiring. There was no send off for 1 Goat, 2 olympic champions....
• World Cup - CNT loss men's gold medal.
• CNT mens core players loosing regularly to foreigners (winning some events, but players loosing here and there)
• LGL resigns, WLQ is the new boss, Ma Long is now VP of CTTA.
  • Both WLQ and Ma Long rocket launches and supersedes senior figures like Qin, Wang Hao, Ma Lin.

Stepping down before Doha WTTC, the WTTC is the biggest event this year! Probably not the best timing for any national team, especially CNT, that is very protective on its image.

Whats ahead?

• Probably revamp of CNT management staff after WTTC,
• Will WLQ speak to FZD and get him back? If someone had to do it, WLQ is the best candidate to make it happen.
• Will they retire LGY/LJK, to allow for more spots for younger players or continue using high risk players (ones that are loosing regularly to foreigners since Jan 2024). Normally retirement is end of the year, but the same as management changes..... so having a management change mid year, few weeks before WTTC, anything can happen.)

So CNT is now in closed training in Chengdu.
They even invited some reitired players to assist with spairing purposes (players that retired these few months). They also have old wisdom there too.
WLQ has this 3 weeks to work on securing golds.
