Is the blade too damaged?

I was going to change the rubber on this, but the wood in that area has come apart and is stuck to the rubber. Should I try peeling the wood off the rubber and glue it back to the blade, or just forget about that wood and live with the blade being thinner in that area, or just get a new blade?

Just get a new blade. The surface is uneven already. Next blade you purchase, inform the seller to apply a layer of sealant. Pay him even if you must to avoid this same problem.

I’d say you might as well get a new blade, that seems like quite a big tear.

I would go for a new blade when it looks like this. Yep a sealant would be good. It costs just a little and saves the blade for a long time.

New blade for sure. Is it a Stiga? They used to have a lot of issues with the top ply coming off.

Fixable as long as the core layer is intact. Depends on how much you like this particular blade. I would fix it regardless. But I would not use the old wood. I would take new wood and cut away the old. Such a small area close to the edge means no real degradation of funcionality. Use any type of thin veneer for this.

He only just lifted up an edge, who knows what comes away together with the rest of the rubber.
As you say, it depends on how much attachment is involved to this blade AND if the required skills are there to do a proper job.My knee-jerk reaction though is also : Get a new blade 😁

Thanks guys. It is a fairly cheap Air Touch01 blade from colestt.com, so I will just get a new one.

I would repair it and keep it as a spare blade. Maybe a racket to lend to a friend for a match, or a blade to test rubbers. Or if you feel like Ruwen Filus you can throw it to an unsuspecting bystander if you get angry!
