Is the total blade count in the world just constantly going up?

Since people are constantly buying new blades all the time, is the total global blade count just constantly going up all the time?

It seems kinda weird to me that there are just more and more blades lying around somewhere in the world.

I think many blade is also dumped, or to be dumped waiting in storage boxes in warehouses etc.
