ive seen harimoto hit some of the most amazing shots of his life away from the table with zyre, and yet, i wonder is that the difference maker thats going to bring him success? its obv not a big deal and a pro can play with whatever, but i think his ability to control the ball close to the table has suffered, so in order to control he has to go very passive or back off more and hope other player misses (good ones dont). not that he wasnt doing this already but i dont think it helped. i feel it puts him under more pressure to go all or nothin.

besides Sora, who is both more or less a table tennis god and who in my opinion has benefitted from being able to see what Harimoto did successfully/unsuccessfully over the years for his development, i dont recall players doing anything so great with zyre yet (could be forgetting, miwa switched back already it looks like). but many players like franziska are hitting best shots of their life too. more adjustment needed and dont need to give up on it, just gotta accept if playing people right at your level then equipment differences matter until you have adjusted.

i think there could be something with the harimoto super alc and zyre that causes bad synergy too, with the super alc catapult and launch, but i havent tried them together yet! just my ideas

(p.s. thanks for stopping by the stream today - it was an honor!)
Haha... not at all you are funny. I have actually watched the stream a few times, just my first time commenting and then I got pulled away and couldn't see the response so I am still not sure what the drill was...

We are all speculating when it comes to the pros and Zyre, your guess is as good as mine. Togami is also a Zyre lord but of course LYJ tried it on backhand and switched back. I want to experiment with going back to it on my SALC and just biting the bullet and seeing what happens.

With Harimoto, it is the fact that his "misdevelopment" leaves these high level flaws that might need correction to climb mount Everest that fascinate me. Fun to watch regardless of the result. He is paid enough to suffer so all is well I think...

like some of the Sora backhands last night with Zyre are like a never before seen level of shot lol (for me)
Most of us will never in our lifetimes hit a shot quality a top 10 player can hit. Spinsight is now producing the data to teach us that lol.

Pretty impressed with Choi today. Korea's fate seemed sealed the moment Kim was unable to convert her lead. Nonetheless, Korea put up an entertaining match.

OTOH, looking forward to more Shinozuka/Ito pairings!
I think Choi Hyo Joo will get serious consideration for 3rd player at Olympics as a doubles specialist (both XD and WD). Despite being underpowered, she will occasionally use the full body loop kill to great effect. Her clever flicks and placement in addition to being a lefty make her quite suitable for doubles.

No Nakazawa Rui (Wang Rui) for the Japan womens team coach today. Assistant coaches today Yuu Harimoto and Morizono. I wonder where Rui is at.
