Ok so how zeio is going to explain this situation: Kasumi is the best female japenese player in world ranking and best in national japan???
I know still she does not deserve to represent japan in world championships or olympics. The truth is that she has problems to overcome chinese players but she developed enough to beat all besides china, which Ito and Hirano have a lot of problems.

if by any chance Japan was facing China in the final, if I was the Japanese coach , I would let Ishikawa be the N3 player and play only 1 game. But i would let her play N1 or N2 against every other nation

Ishikawa is good at grasping the opportunity to attack first, and her counterlooping ability is also very strong. She's the best at counterlooping among Japanese female players. Being able to hold my own on this aspect, I am very satisfied with myself. When I played her in the past, I score more from receiving. In the match today, I could score in counterlooping, which makes me feel my skills have improved and now more confident!
...It is also related to the Olympic qualification in January next year. I have never won a singles medal in the WTTC, so I want to get a good-color medal this time. And with my current strength, I totally have a chance to win the championship! I want to lay a good foundation for the next year's Olympic trials with the results of the WTTC!

Good win for Kasumi but she’s not number one in Japan. Hirano took the domestic crown from her two years ago and Ito is last year and this year champion

I’m talking about the Japan National Championships

This time I tried to ignore my past results, as if to aim for my 1st victory.
...I thought I'd bring out my courage from beginning to end
...For Tokyo 2020, it'll be my 3rd time, I'd like to do my best for the next year as I did for my 1st Olympics. Since the WTTC is my current goal, I'd like to play more consistently.

Well, consistency is not what you need. You need a breakout performance. A career highlight! Like Mizutani beating XX at Rio 2016!! You can be consistent against the entire world and it still won't do jack against China.

And neither is Ding Ning in China by the same standard. But Kasumi is the #1 ranked Japanese player and historically their team leader.

Let's keep it to 2018.

Ishikawa lost to CIC at World Cup and Lee Eunhye at Hong Kong Open.

Ito's losing to Doo Hoi Kem at Austrian Open and CIC at Grand Finals doesn't sound that bad now?

Hirano had it the worst last year, but other than CNT players and her teammates, the only ones she lost to were Suh Hyowon at German Open(whom she beat later at the Asian Cup), Doo Hoi Kem at Asian Cup(whom she beat later in the knock-out), and Solja Petrissa at Swedish Open.

Do these align with the stats below?
