Did you test the R7 37 ? Can you develop a bit ? I read that it is slower than H8-80.
Yes I tested it, it's got a red-orange cake sponge similar to LAC and H8-80, and doesn't have the dense feeling of H3-20 or the Rxton 9 sponge. Idk about slower than H8-80, neither is what I'd call fast, but I can't say for sure since it's been years since I've used a H8-80. I boosted the R7 with 2 layers of Haifu Yellow, and speed-wise it's fine, though definitely a bit less than the new R9 at the top end. It's definitely very light though, which can be a big plus, and it's pretty tacky like all the Loki tacky rubbers.

Welp, best to my understanding R7 is just more accessible R9. If you want a hybrid get LAC, if you want a cheaper H3 37 get R9, if you are intermediate and not sure, get R7.

I'd compare the R9 to H3 38, the H3 37 feels like a completely different rubber, much slower and more mushy. I'd compare R7 to a more crisp H3 37. They're more similar in ball quality, but the R7 is not as mushy. It's both a plus and a minus. It makes typical play a lot easier, but it doesn't have quite as much pace variation as H3 37 does.

I'd describe both the LAC and the R7 as more hybrid feeling, though the LAC is significantly faster with a harder, more direct feel.

My LAC was down right bouncy (2 layers kailin).

I do not agree with the R9 37.5, maybe I put to much booster or something. If u paste them on the same blade and don't tell me which one is which I will not figure it out.

In my experience R7 is easier. I would suggest for new guy to progress through 7 to lac, then if need be R9. If somebody want decent hurricane R9 feels good in that roll.

My NEO H3 37 commercial measures quite a bit softer than you might expect it to, and it's SUPER flexible in the hand. I think it might actually be a different sponge formulation and not just a softer #20. Probably the easiest BH rubber I've ever played with, and the most dynamic in terms of pace and quality variation.

I'll have to try a 38 some time just to compare.

LAC is too hard for my BH. 40 on the Chinese scale. No thanks. I really like the h8-80 37 tbh. Soft enough for the BH, yet hard enough (maybe the top sheet) to do powerful shots.
I am trying to change my BH playstyle from Power to placement and variation. Less mistakes from my side as it is safer, and that allows me to reduce fatigue which leads to me using more my powerful FH to finish points. In that regards H8-80 really helps me to do the transition. In my memory H3 37 (boosted with haifu nat white) was meh, lots of control but not very explosive, mushy, and very 1 stroke oriented, which was controlled topspin. But, when I tried it, my BH was a lot weaker, both in technic and power than today. So perhaps, today I would have a different opinion. So, I suppose a R9 37.5 could improve my game despite being different to H8-80. Or I keep something similar to H8-80, the goal is to get a cheaper rubber here.

They were doing 37 lac in red at one point.
