Looking for a new budget blade

This user has no status.
Hey guys

I am looking for a new blade. Under $40, preferably $30 or less. I am looking for an allround blade with a straight handle.
I was looking at the DHS PG7 but that is listed as OFF++. Any other blades for a reasonable price?

I would consider myself an intermediate player whose practices about 15 hrs a week max.

Thanks!

the pg7 is not an allround blade, if you want something in that category i would suggest the following :

yinhe 896
stiga allround evolution
lkt instinct

all solid blades that don't cost an arm and a leg (just not sure if there are any yinhe distributors in .za ... speak to tony of tony's table tennis as he has some stock of yinhe rubbers i think, not sure about the blades).

Well, I haven't really wanted to focus on "sales" in this forum
But you are more than welcome to have a look at www.ttshop.co.za

There are plenty of Yinhe options, as well as some Yasaka's that are pretty affordable.

Remember when you import yourself, you may need to pay VAT of 14%, possible customs fees, bank charges (credit card) or what not, so $40 may end up $50 or $60

And support the local, as my shop's profit does go back to table tennis development in South Africa

No worries Tony, I have bought from you in the past. Do you stock the Donic Allplay mentioned above?

I am quite keen on this as I already use a Donic blade. Never used this site before though. How long will it take to arrive? And are purchases insured?

TT11 is a top notch company.
How long will it arrive - with the current SAPO strike + back log, you will be lucky if it actually arrives.
I rekon, backlog will take 1 to 3 months to clear up, before things come back to normal

Insurance - only option is if you purchase via paypal and have paypal's protecton
No Freight insurance, as it regular postage if I recall correctly

Nope, don't do Donic.
I have sold a lot of Yasaka Allround Plus blades to PMB
Yasaka Allround Plus + Xiom Vega Euro x 2.

Maybe you can test them out before going any further

Yeah, I do carry some Yinhe blades.
I choose the N10 blade instead of 896, also have MC2, then U3 - but that is a bit faster
I also have LKT Instinct and Instinct+

All solid blades indeed.

With me stocking these, I helped a lot of people save money on equipment and where they could buy 1, now they could buy 2 :)

yeah, the cost of table tennis equipment is pretty high in .za ... the import duties, freight and vat adds up.

i managed to get some equipment brought in via a german clubmate when i was still in .za ... way cheaper when it doesn't get all the taxes and fees applied :) the .za customs and import duties on sporting goods was insane back then, not sure about now.

Yeah, SA's problem is simple, its a bubble waiting to burst. 3.8 million tax payers is funding the cost of a country with near 50 million people.
13 million people relying on governement grants and this number is growing very fast.

So our taxes, duties and what not is getting higher and higher.

I try to keep my selling price the same as most international stores, but with my pricing, is inclusive of 14% Vat, and no currency conversation risk (ZAR volitility can get like 3% a day easily). Locally available and less shipping risk.
And with my sales, I am able to get marketing budget to invest back into the community.

International freight to ZA is also ridicules compared to other regions :(

Only sad thing is that the ZAR has lost near 40% in value since my shop started 2 years ago. So basically everything is getting more and more expensive - wheither by currency, freight or by taxes :(

I some times wonder if I should actually not have started a shop, but then again, we need some supply chain to aid development, so hope I didn't take too much risk by getting that much invovled

Yeah whats the story with the import tax? I have brought in a few rubbers before. No tax. Will there be a problem with getting the blade in? A friend wants to piggyback and split the delivery cost? Will that be worse due to more items?

You have been lucky not to pay taxes, min is a 14% VAT, and a handling charge.
So its all at your own risks

And if you purchase from overseas more than 3 times a year, you will need to register an import license

Usually it is under 2 weeks for me. I don't know it is so much trouble for parcel receiving in your country until now. Paypal protection for 45 days is the insurance for buyers. I bought often and never lost a package in mail. May be you can leave them a message and ask about any trouble shipping to SA before you order. Discount for the blade finish before Monday or sold out prior.
