My brother is a bit more than a complete beginner, I'd say an enthusiast (he uses a shakehand grip and hits the ball with technique, but he needs to improve his technique more)

Tell me some good options for cheap blades to buy on aliexpress, something around 10-15 bucks. (he likes hard/rigid woods)

He's thinking of using it with a rxton 1 or mercury 2 (he also asked me what the best option would be, I said mercury 2, but he's not sure. What do you think?)

Sanwei Fextra 5 is under 15 bucks.

You can get Rxton 3 Pro (with the dragon on it) for under $10 as a FH rubber.

Mercury 2 soft is decent as a BH rubber for the price. But for a little over $10 he can get something like Palio AK47 or Moon 12 Blue.

I've heard good things about fextra 5, but I've never tried it. Is it rigid? He says he doesn't like the feeling of elasticity in the wood... He likes a game with control and spin!

Although not on AliExpress and a little bit pricey I suggest this paddle from counter strike. I used it before and would suggest it with anyone still at the beginner phase of table tennis. Hope this helps : )

yinhe -U2 about 20-30 normally, with sales you can get it for 15.
Most played starter to intermediate Blade in Asian Regions and therefore probably the most played beginner Blade ever.
between the U2 and fextra 7, do you know the best option? Same price

I've played both and like the Fextra 7 better.

The U2 is a bit more stiff and direct. Probably goes better with softer rubber.

Fextra feels better and I think complements Chinese rubbers by making them feel livelier.

The Fextra is more known by people on English speaking forums, so it's a good reference blade. Can't go wrong with one for the price imo.

Ok. Thanks! I'll tell him to bet on fextra anyway.
