Mizuno wave drive 8 vs Butterfly Lezoline Rifones

Good morning pongers,

I’ve been wearing my black pair of Butterfly Lezoline Rifone table tennis shoes for over a year now and train consistently teice a week and play tournaments every month. I’ve just gone back to China to train with the provincial team and decided to buy a pair of Mizuno Wade Drive 8 to try out. It should arrive in about a day. How’s the sizing? I wear a 42 in butterfly shoes and heard that the Mizuno’s run big so I ordered a 41. How’s the durability, I‘ve experienced great durability with me Butterfly shoes.

thanks

My experience with bty lezolines vs mizuno was that I have an 2 year old pair of Wave drive medal 6 which show no signs of wear while I had to replace the butterfly shoes already after nearly a year. They simply had more than 3 place where the stitching Tore or the glue of the Outer Sole was failing at the inside of the shoe. Granted the bty shop allowed me to replace them even after a year, but I don't think they'll do that twice

The butterfly do run smaller so you've likely made the correct choice on sizing.
As regards durability my Mizuno WD8s look and feel practically brand new after 2 yrs of using twice a week. Only insole needed replacing as it flattens and loses its spring/cushion but this is normal for all 'court' shoes that get a lot of use. Sole and upper are still excellent. Stability and support is still there. Weight is often an issue with shoes (heavier teammates go through shoes faster than I do) but I'm relatively light at 1.77m and 75kgs so I can see 5 yrs from them without issue and I'll be buying another pair when these are finished.

I tried both shoes out yesterday and the difference was night and day. The Mizuno wave drive 8‘s we’re giving me hotspots everywhere on my foot and it felt heavier than the Lezoline rifones. I just returned it and is now ordering another pair of lezoline.
That's a pity, perhaps the shape of the butterfly just suits your feet better. I tried many brands before setting on the Mizuno. I find the ventilation in them to be good, although there are shoes that pass more air.
Anyway, at least now you know you'll probably appreciate your BFs even more!
