Abe, I would say give it a shot at trying someone's bat who has Rasant on it. Very likely, their blade will be composite as it seems over half the amature TT crowd uses those. Try it out yourself and see how it works for you in all situations. Look at how TTD Dan & Co review a rubber and what they hold important and use a similar evaluation approach.
I tried Rasant out on someone's BTY ALC blade and it felt like an average modern rubber. It wasn't crap, but I wasn't impressed with it enough to cough up $45 - $50 USD in Korea. Months later, some one in my club replaced their FH rubber and gave me their old sheet of Rasant and it was in good shape. I put it on my ALL+ 896 backup bat and Rasant really came to life on counter topspins ! It was a looping machine vs incoming topspin, especially loop to loop rallies at distance. But we gotta get real, how many of our points REALLY have those kind of rallies? I am a little under 2000 level in your region (would likely be well over 2000 somewhere else

) and have only a few points like that a match and that is only vs the crowd who likes to medium loop from mid distance.
We can read reviews here and in a lot of ways, they have value, but one review cannot possibly cover EVERYONE's preferences or value points. Sometimes, you just gotta try it out for yourself. The club you are in shapes up to be a good place with a lot of players using a lot of stuff, give it a shot. Your rating and playing level have improved significantly to a point where you are in a WAY better position to evaluate stuff than you were a year ago.
