yesterday got a new michael maze blade.... from 2011
it starts with the letter L in the serial number.
the local seller seems to keep the products for a long time.

I also bought another butterfly blade this year from him and serial starts with k (2010).

the zhang jike I bought last year from a korean site has the letter O (2014).

as for the maze, quite similar to zhang jike but a bit softer feeling and slower.
only tried it once though so haven't noticed much yet.

But then again, some say the older blades have higher QC than today, so maybe it is a good thing

I think qc has always been the same for butterfly.

What I notice is the blades he sells have a softer feel.
Maybe having the for 4 or 5 years in a closet does something to them.

The zhang jike from 2014 I bought has a super hard feel.

Maybe QC is the wrong word.
I was talking more towards the line of wood quality
Wood of yester years is better than now

If the blade was in his closet for few years, then the softer feel does indeed make more sense.
Funny enough, speaking about this, some players like this, some don't - some prefer a fresh blade, hence they may change blades once a year or half year (to same blade, but just fresher feel)

Maze will feel much more soft for sure because the outer ply is Limba while ZJK outer ply is koto which is more harder

played a bit more with the maze.
I find the maze is better for serves and pushing.
zhang jike alc is better for looping with power. it feels much harder and also more powerful.
the zhang jike I have weighs 94g so I think it's probably one of the hardest and most powerful out there.
the maze is 90g, more typical weight.
