TTD..... I come to you for your wise and wonderful suggestions.....

I'm converting my Dad to a short pips player - Embrace the chaos!

I'm going Buggler on the backhand (1.9) with Glayzer on the FH (Max).

He's definitely more of a "hitter" than a looper, but he's pretty good and can generate plenty of power when he wants too.

He's currently using the Tibhar Samsonov Force Pro Black blade......

I've opted for the Hadraw 5, as I'd heard (first hand) that it was larger (handle size) than the Korbel (made in Europe).

Does anyone have other suggestions in the Butterfly camp for alternatives? Or if indeed the above sizing is accurate (contradicts Butterly's own catalogue, but that's not surprising!)

Thanks!

I wouldn't really call Bugller a short pip, in terms of behavior it reminds me a lot more of a medium pip because it has a lower friction topsheet designed to kill spin rather than produce it. I felt it was pretty difficult to play with as a lot of my attacking shots fell into the net, at least compared to your general fare modern style short pips like Rakza PO, VO>102 and Moristo SP, but it was almost stupid easy to hit backspin with, I could even swipe over the table a bit like a long pip, and the blocks/counters that did land produced nasty sinking and skidding trajectories.

In terms of blades, I'm not sure about Euro Korbel or Hadraw 5, but I think the 7 ply Korbel SK7 might be a more suitable transition coming from the Force Pro (unless you are looking to go for a slower more flexible blade), and the flared handle has reasonable size as well.
