Hey everyone,

I'm new to the forum, but I've read as much as I could on rubbers and blades, and where to buy, but I still would appreciate your help, because I can't really decide what to buy. I used to play TT 7-8 yr ago recreationaly and very rarely, and now 6 months ago I've started playing it again in local club, mainly needing recreation because of my lower back problems. It's safe to say that it went from being recreation to something more serious so after a month I've started going regular to every training. But, lets cut to the chase.

So as you can see my current setup is Galaxy N9 blade and Friendship/729 Faster 3 which I bought online from Aliexpress, and Tenergy 05 which I bought used from semi-pro player. My main problem now is that my racket is to slow. I play attacking style, close to the table, and in last 2-3 weeks I've started noticing that my shots are slower compared to other players. When in rally I have to hit as hard as I can and ball is still slow, while the guy whom I'm playing against has faster hits, and that sometimes causes me problems, as I should finish rally and win point with FH smash on high ball, but most of the time everyone just manages to return the ball. I've tried one of the colleagues racket with Timo Boll blade(I think the first one Butterfly ever sold) and Tenergy 05 on FH & BH, which then proved to be faster than my blade.

So for the last week I was searching and reading reviews on which blade and rubber to buy. At first I thought of buying DHS Hurricane 3 (standard version) but then I've read that only National version (+ tuned) is actually any good. I also thought of buying DHS Power G7 blade, but as I'm reading more and more, I'm not sure what to take. I'm definitely staying with that used Tenergy 05 for now, and I thought of buying Tibhar Evolution MX-P (which I can get for 36$ in Croatia), as I've read and heard that is very very similar to the Tenergy 05, is that correct?

TL;DR My current setup is to slow, I need a bit faster blade than Galaxy N-9, and replacement for 729 Faster 3.

What do you think? DHS Power G7 for blade (is it faster than galaxy n9?), or something else? DHS Hurricane 3 (standard version), or something else? DHS H3 vs MX-P (18$ vs 36$)?

And final, where would I get DHS stuff? Does eacheng delivery real & original DHS products (because I've read somewhere that there where some DHS H3 fakes)? Maybe someone has some websites in Europe(lower shipping costs?)?

Thanks :)

You can get original DHS products from ttnpp I have reviewed the DHS national h3 Orange and blue sponge on this forum both bought from this site

Thanks on reply, I've checked your review, it is great, but my question is How would you compare DHS H3 National with Tenergy 05 for example?

Killerspintt thanks :)

Have you considered Carbonado 190?

No not really, tbh it's a bit to expensive, especially as I am still not so good player. And I do believe that brands like Stiga, Butterfly, Donic, and so on, are making their prices so high because of Brand, and that you can get very similar equipment from Chinese brands for a lot less. Maybe in a future I do decide to go for something like Carbonado, but not now.
Thank you anyway.

It looks like he is looking for things that are good, fast, but not expensive. Carbonado 190 costs a lot. Close enough to the number. That being said, it is a good blade. But so is the PG-7.

Evolution MX-P is a different kind of rubber than H3. If you get the $18.00 commercial H3 that you are talking about, for it to be fast, you have to be good at brush-looping with a big swing. For it to be fast you also have to know how to boost it. Without those two things, it is pretty slow. Since you mention smashing, that is not something you want to do with H3.

If you watch the Chinese pros who use H3 on FH, they use it to loop. When they need to smash they twiddle their rackets and use the Tenergy (red rubber) side. Because H3 is not very fast for direct contact. What makes it fast is how much grab the topsheet has on the ball.

And MX-P is an amazing rubber. It would be worth the extra cost. In some ways it is better than Tenergy. Not in all ways, but it is a great rubber.

For the price, getting a PG-7 and a sheet of MX-P and putting the Tenergy you already have on there, would give you a good, fast setup.

Thanks for your answer, it helped me to decide 100% to take MX-P as a rubber, but I still can't decide on taking DHS PG7 :/ . My current Galaxy n9 is 5 ply wood, and PG7 is 7 ply, I've read somewhere that generally the 7 ply all wood blades are faster than 5 ply all wood blades, is that true?

Is there anyone that played with both blades and could tell me that PG7 is faster?

I believe that the PG-7 is about the same speed as a Stiga Clipper which is almost as fast as a Timo Boll ALC.

Usually 7 ply blades are faster than 5 ply blades. But it also depends on the materials. I believe PG-7 is Off rated. I believe N-9 is Off- so I think they would be in different speed classes.

Can anyone confirm that?

If you want my advice, go with DHS Hurricane Hao 3 blade, i bought it from ttnpp for less than $100, and WOW, what a blade, i do have BTY Jun Mizutani, Carbonado, ZJK ALC, N-11, and recently T-11+, Defence III, and Primorac EX, and out of all those DHS HH3 stands out the best for me, i still didn't assemble my Yasaka Extra yet but it is not a fast blade anyway.

What i love about this HH3 are:
1. Lightweight
2. Incredible control even for me as a beginner
3. Fast, best for distance from table and they were right about this
4. The handle is just right for my hand

Give it a try and thank me later.

Oh yeah i forget, i use Tenergy 05 on FH and T05FX on BH, you may use 05FX on FH and something slower or more control for BH, for example MX-P or FX-P, or go with MX-P for FH and T05FX on BH.

New equipment help & where to buy

Come on Tareq, read what he is asking for. You just recommended a setup that costs $340.00 total. He is looking for good equipment that doesn't cost much.

PG-7 is an excellent, inexpensive, 7 ply, all wood blade. It is about $30.00. The standard price for HH3 is $200.00 He could get 7 PG-7s for the price of the HH3. If he finds HH3 for $100.00 it is still more than 3x the price he wants to pay.

And he already has one rubber so he only wants to buy one not 4.

I bought N-11 and didn't like it either the blade itself or the rubbers, and i felt like why i bought it first place.

Well, i bought HH3 for $93 and with shipping it can go up to %100 more or less, this is way better than $150-200 anyway, and i used it as i wasn't sure about it, but actually this price what made me to buy it and i did, and wow, it is amazing, it is not wrong to buy one expensive blade if it is great than going with several cheap ones if not as good or quality, i was going to recommend one of those PG series, but i know they are similar or closer to those of Hurricane ones, but to me those PG series is like a fake models of expensive ones, not same quality but closer, look at aliexpress where you can see many very cheap blade of those very expensive ones, are they the same of those expensive ones? same as with PG series, they are just copy features of the expensive ones but not as same quality, why not one expensive and never look back?!!!

If it is about all wood blade then i take back my recommendation of HH3, go with Clipper then, eve Carbonado is more expensive than HH3, so the price is just a price, some can afford and some not, let people decide what they can afford if you give them all options, i did buy cheap and expensive and found that expensive items always have something superior even at least the design quality or reliability or durability or even consistency, so going with cheap versions is not always the right thing if many of you believe going with expensive thing is not the right idea too, he has a cheap blade already, what will another cheap blade add to him.

I have T-11+, cheap, and it didn't come close to HH3 performance, and N-11 is way way far behind them, and i was going to buy N-9 as i thought it will be better than N-11, it could be different but not better, and T-11+ is very fast and composite, but it didn't match my expectations against HH3, and even didn't try HL3 which is all wood, and many swear by HL5 in my club because one player is using it and all liked it, but as you said, they couldn't afford it, how come he could afford it then.

Rubber, if he has already one, then look at 05FX as FH or Calibra LT Sound as BH, or better go with any rubber recommended by you as rubber topic is endless.

Anyway, jrstudio, the PG-7 is supposed to be a pretty good blade. I believe Ma Long used it for a little while in 2011 after he stopped using TB ALC.

There are a few guys on here who play with it and I have heard good things about the blade. It is supposed to be a decently high quality blade.

Hopefully someone from the forum who has used it will see this and reply. But a Clipper, for a little bit more would be good too. I don't know that one is actually better than the other though.

Hi jrstudio. I backing up on Carl's recommendations. I have played both the PG 7 and the custom DHS506 Ma Long he was using during his massive winning streak. Anyway, the PG7 is a very good blade for the buck. The only thing is if you buy two of them the quality can vary and blades can play different from each other even though they are the same. Xiom is a good alternative for rubber and I reckon the Vega Japan would be ok for you together with your Tenergy 05

it is definitely rated OFF. In terms of speed in my opinion it is TB ALC>PG7>Clipper.

Thanks Giang. I am sure will help jrstudio. Faster than a Clipper. A little slower than a TB ALC. that is a completely different speed category than the N-9.
