Hi!
I’m about to buy a new backhand rubber and since both rubbers cost about the same in my country I was wondering how they compared to each other.

If you’ve used both rubbers, please tell me the differences in terms of bounciness, spin, speed, control over the table, power away from the table and durability
Thank you so much in advance.

Glayzer is quite slower than G-1 and more demanding to play. Most people would describe the Glayzer as more controlled because of that.
I have played the G-1 for a long time and playing the first few drives with the Glayzer basically made the ball drop into the net, because i was not used to need to put in so much power to accelerate the ball.

My guess is that Glayzer is more linear than G1. All tensors have a sort of threshold where the ball just fly away.

Have you managed to play with the Glayzer? Can you do a comparision between both? Im coming from D05.

I tested both g1 and g05 side to side, on my harimoto super alcs. both are great backhand rubbers, but lets compare

feeling: g05 has the spring sponge, it is a unique feel and different to esn rubbers. it feels quite nice in how the ball is launched from the rubber, like a trampoline

in comparison, g1 shoots out more predictable but very clicky, nice feel

short game: g05 is kinda slow and dead, so it is good here. g1 us clearly better tho, the ball stays really short and low on pushes

blocking: both good, g1 has more control for sure, its very clear

looping: g05 much easier to use on low and medium power, nice stretchy top sheet, the rubber catches the ball no matter what, you can brush with topsheet or use more sponge, it just works. spin is good. on high power, the sponge doesnt let you add more power, not ideal for power shots

g1 is soooo linear, it just makes sense. what you put into the shot, you get. however, you need to make sure to engage the sponge. the rubber doesnt feel hard on power shots, but on low and medium power, it can due to the hard topsheet. if you dont engage the sponge somewhat on low - medium power, the result is not good. the ball can slip on thin brushes or you get a high arcing ball with no spin. confidence is key with g1, you dont have to rip every ball but you need to have trust to engage the rubber. if you do, results are great: good spin, safe arc, stable linear feeling, clicky feel. on high power shots, g1 clearly outclasses g05

smashing / punching: g05 solid, g1 better because the hard topsheet lets you perform smashes with confidence

durability: both are one of the best in terms of durability

conclusion: both are very nice rubbers for amateurs, especially on the backhand. if you are a bit hesitant or passive on the backhand, and tend to brush alot in order to get the ball safely over the net (nothing wrong with that in official matches), take g05

if you have confidence in your loops and are comfortable to hit right into the sponge, go for g1. g1 is even or better in basically every aspect if the technique is there. both arent easy to play but also not hard to play rubbers. g05 is a bit more forgiving but also has a lower ceiling. I am a fan of both rubbers

What rubber would you recommend, from these two, for someone that was coming from the D05 on the forehand but needs something a little slower and wants to maintain the linearity, grip and low spin sensitivity of D05.

No, Glayzer "regular" is Glayzer in 05 configuration. Adding the number serves as a distinction from the 09c variant.
I don't understand why they used this naming convention, it's confusing

Ah.
I'd never seen it referenced as Glayzer 05.
I thought it was just Glayzer 09c and Glayzer, without any number being the other one.

So, we know that Glayzer 09c is Dignics 09c topsheet with softer sponge.

Does this mean that regular Glayzer is Dignics 05 topsheet with a softer sponge ?

Yes, but I think the sponge is not just softer, also a bit different. It feels less dynamic.

Yes, better than all
For you, maybe. The same cannot be said for everyone, or everyone would use it. It's much harder than G-1 or Glayzer, for one thing. (It's even harder than Glayzer 09c.) It also has a tacky topsheet, which neither G-1 or the regular Glayzer do.

Do a hard sponge and tacky topsheet offer advantages over (comparatively) softer, grippy Japanese rubbers? Sure, but there are tradeoffs as well.
