got some anecdotal evidence here: So i was playing with the victas v>20 extra which was very controlled, spinny enough but the low throw and low endspeed made my game more secure but less powerful.
while playing with this setup the added control had these effect:

Player A is a lefty playing with Vega X and i beat him 90% of the time even though i try many things against him, because the margin is big enough so that i can be very attacking, miss opportunistic shots and still win. With the more controlled setup i lost to him, since even though the endspeed of the rubber did not make me overshoot much, the lower throw made the ratio of loops against backspin worse then they had to and when the loop was succesfully passing the net then it was slow enough to be blocked often.

Player B is a righty that has a very secure short game and pushes with next to no mistakes. his only way of attacking is smashing. He occasionally blocks topspins/loops.
Playing with the v>20 extra i scored a few points on spinny serves, but i could not contest him in a push battle because after the 8th or 9th ball one would make a mistake overpushing, which would be me in 70% of the cases or i would get impatient and loop a not so easy ball. if the loop was sucessful he would simply smash it. He somehow has the luck that he would just hit the right angle for the smash so that the ball would not go out but land on my side of the table. with this setup i would usually lose 3:1 against him, with me winning the first set until he gets used to me and drags me into pushing battles.

Now i switched the V20 extra for the genextion and in the first 20 minutes i was really doubting if i should stick with it, because the first balls went high and wide, because i was acustomed to accounting for the low throw of the victas rubber. It really took me about 30 minutes to get comfortable with the higher speed and throw of the genextion, but then after about an hour i began to get used to the rubbers characteristics and played the opponents i struggled against with the victas rubber.

Player A i did easily win against. He was feeling like he was off, but the main thing was that i could now loop close and over the table again, because the higher throw enabled me to basically loop his serve receives off the bounce. He even applauded me and said that he cant do anything about it. The balls hit him so fast that he did not even reach them with the bat.

Player B i did beat 3:2 with a higher percentage of me looping even low spinny pushes, but the main difference was that my loops would be so fast that the opponent did not even get the chance to reach them. When he tried to smash loops he could not even get his blade in place fast enough and the ball hit his hand or body before he could even backswing.

According to Victas the V20 double extra has more speed and a higher throw than the V20 extra and i was kind of looking to try if that difference in speed and throw would be good enough for me to stick to the v20 double extra. I just had the genextion lying around here and hence i put it on a blade and played it for this one session, without really planing to stick to it, but the results of this session will at least postpone the idea of putting the v20 double extra onto one of my blades. I will first check how the Genextion fares against stronger opponents today. In the end i have 3 different sets of opponents with quite unique skills and attributes and i have to play equally good against all of them. I am curious to see how the faster setup with the Genextion works against low spin pushes and players with Anti-topspin rubbers on sunday.

The main question, you were using them, I mean V>20 extra and Genextion on BH or FH?
Maybe instead of V>20 DE, try V>22 DE (50) as it is in between V>20 E (47.5) and V>20 DE (52.5).
Recently I bought V>20E (along with Xiom Omega 7 Pro) for my BH to try on Q968 Nat (which is still in delivery from Prott). Normally I'm playing BTY Timo Boll ZLF with T05 (FH)+ T19 (BH) so I'm curious of V>20 E and O7Pro.

I was only talking about forehand. I have the v22 de on another blade already, but that has more speed and lower throw as well.

I will stick to the Genextion for a month at least. I already played it for a few weeks a few month ago, but then the EJ bug bit me :p

You can compare these victas rubber attributes quite well in Dario Grd's online shop. You just have to translate it from Croatian to English.

And I thought Butterfly is expensive... 80 euros for any rubber is too much, but for a German rubber? That's just crazy.

I’ve had a somewhat conflicting experience with Genextion after using it for a couple of months.

My blade is a very fast, handmade Soulspin ZLC Speed, featuring outer carbon on the forehand and inner carbon on the backhand. Previously, I used Dignics 09C on my forehand and Glayzer 09C on my backhand.

Initially, I decided to test Genextion on my forehand, since it is marketed as a very fast yet controllable rubber. However, I immediately noticed that it lacked power and spin compared to Dignics 09C. It simply did not deliver the same impact or the heavy spin I am used to on the forehand.

Out of curiosity, I decided to try Genextion on my backhand, and surprisingly, it paired really well. It felt easy to use across various backhand strokes:

  • Openings: Not exceptional, but solid and consistent.
  • Blocking: Very steady and reliable.
  • Short game and flicks: Performed well with good control and balance.
Over time, I’ve tried multiple rubbers on my backhand, including:

  • Dignics 09C: Good, but too fast and a bit bouncy.
  • Glayzer 09C: Extremely bouncy, with no feeling or control.
  • Fastarc G1: A good option, but during soft touches, I sometimes struggled with unexpected bounce and a lack of feedback.
  • Nuzn 50: Good overall, but too soft for my liking.
After testing these alternatives, I returned to Genextion and immediately regained the control and confidence I was looking for on my backhand. While Genextion does not excel in any one particular area, it offers a well-rounded balance across all aspects of the game. This balance, combined with its reliable performance, gives me the confidence I need to play effectively.
