Palio Legend 3 - what wood composition is that? koto?

So today, i played with a friends setup to see if i like fastarcs with carbon blade compared to my G1+ Stratus Power Wood and ... oh my....

i cant even play with my stratus anymore. its insane how much better the palio played today. however. i think the palio is ugly as hell and i want to get a setup that is SIMILAR in wood/carbon composition but i cant find anything on the web. top ply doesnt feel like limba at all i think. its a lot more dense than my SPW is.

I agree with @Tyce. Top ply looks like hinoki or spruce with inner force construction overall. Kiri core and medial ply (ply between top ply and fiber!) probably ayous, but a bit difficult to tell, based on the available pictures.

Regarding the supposed "ugliness" of the blade (I assume you mean the handle design), you basically have four options:
1) Just don't give a damn (recommended)
2) Use grip tape (probably not a good solution if your hands are small)
3) Use the handle of a blade that you don't use anymore (or buy a cheapo blade) and switch handle caps (can be fun if you know how to do it; can be nerve-wracking if you don't know how to do it)
4) Move to Jamaica, where the handle design won't be a problem at all

Probably cypress wood, hinoki is too expensive for a budget blade. Not sure if it could be spruce, I don't think so though, the grain looks more like cypress to me.

According to this the construction is Limba-Ayous-CF-Paulownia-CF-Ayous-Limba. Your handle looks different, could it be an earlier Legend (not the 3)?

I could tell the handle is different but figured there was some kind of mix-up. The Legend 2.0 and Legend 3.0 premades have different handles, after all. That...is really poor naming/marketing on Palio's part. 😕
