For me the gold takeaway is how to kill incoming topspin (the dead pan block) and he definitely mentioned pros keeping on varying between the kick block (ie topspin block) and this dead pan block in order to try to throw the opponent off during topspin rallies. The method of bat moving backwards at contact is super interesting and does theoretically kill the spin and momentum i think. But will need to implement it.
