Recently, I started playing table tennis with my flatmate in a study desk. The first time I played on the desk and a proper table I noticed I was hitting the ball too softly while playing on the normal table. I am playing with my left on the desk at the moment since I am not sure if its entirely a good idea. Funnily enough I found that I improved on my left hand through playing on the desk. You can't really do things like long rallies and loops as the table is quite short and you can't use all your power but maybe its possible to adjust.
I've felt that my 'feel' of the ball has improved but I am not sure if the benefits outweigh the drawbacks. Has anyone done something like that or had a similar experience?
